Challenging yet rewarding trail with some of the best panoramic views of the Bay Area! Trail is steep and rocky toward the peak, but well worth the effort once you get to the top. Trail is well marked, but mostly unshaded so bring a lot of water and use good sun protections (we hiked in the afternoon, during the summer). We parked at Ohlone college, which adds extra mile and charges $4 but the parking is way more manageable as the trail is popular. Total length close to 8 miles

We took 2 hours to reach the point and took 1 hr to get back to parking lot, total of 6 miles, better to start 2hr before the sunset and check sunset timings,

CHALLENGE! Mission Peak is a tough hike but it is worth the challenge. I personally trained at different hiking trails for 8 months before hiking up Mission Peak. My level of hiking is moderately strenuous. It is best to hike this trail early in the morning during the spring and summer. There are no trees so it gets hot. Bring a snack to eat at the top and take in the beauty of the South and East Bay Area. Don’t forget to take a picture at the summit.
