⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ For the sheer beauty ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️For the challenge to get there by kayak (paddle boats only, at this time 2022) although you can hike into the Miti. It is 2 miles from the Bushay campground. ⭐️⭐️because there is only one real good safe to use campsite out of the sixteen. Most are completely overgrown, large widow makers or nonexistent in general. All of this aside, it was so beautiful and deserted that we were the only ones there.
This is a really cool place to go. Spent the weekend there with my wife and some friends. Really quiet and off the beaten path, yes you need a boat or likewise to get there from the Lake Mendocino South Boatramp. We took our kayaks and it wasnt to bad. The only thing i can say is that other visitors could clean up after themselves a little better. There was some some trash there. At the time, there appeared to be no trash cans. So, pack in pack out.
Not the best place. It was windy and cold. The bathroom was a pretty far walk when you are drunk. Cool thing about this place is that you can be loud as hell and not many people can hear you. It is so ChEAP here you could rent to the whole place and have a rippin' party here. First come first serve. Really though that bathroom thing comes into play beware! If you fall and get hurt I hope you can have high pain tolerance. You will have to take a boat back to shore.
1) Must use a boat to get here. 2) If you pack it in, you pack it out. 3) Bring fresh water. No running water available. 4) Long-drop toilets. No flush. Close lid. Bring toilet paper. 5) No on-site shower. Can use shower at ky-en campground. 6) No reservations; first come, first take Each campsite has it's own picnic table, lantern hook, and large fire ring big enough for bonfires with an attached flippable iron grill for cooking. Wood to burn is usually provided for free by park rangers in large piles. No need to boat in wood or bring a saw. The reward for the effort of getting everything here are some of the most awesome views of the lake available. The entire campground has a wrap around beach that also includes a small dock, and a swimming beach/area right beside it. Since everything must be boated in, trash and random people wandering through your campsite are as close to zero as it gets. 😀 Had the best view of the recent meteor showers in complete darkness, just the moon, friends, some stars and meteors. You can feel all alone and still be close enough to see your vehicle with binoculars if you park at the marina in the boat trailer spaces. For 8 bucks a day, it's a nice price for the privilege to camp here. 5 stars. Thank you army corps of engineers!
Quiet secluded campground u can only get to by boat. Beautiful lake Mendocino!
