Odd that the map marker is at this point... perhaps it's the center of the area? Mojave Trails NM is literally hundreds of thousands of acres, stretching from Afton Canyon in the northwest, down to Camp Iron Mountain in the southeast -- maybe 130 miles from edge to edge. It's huge, and diverse, and speckled with other lands and features as well. Worthy of days and weeks of exploration. Photos are from Chubbuck and Base Line Road.
There is absolutely nothing listed at this point of the highway. Stop either in Amboy or at Amboy Crater
Beautiful! Place in California mojave desert!!!
Right smack dav in the middle of the desert, you will see Mojave Trails National Monument... There's no way to miss it. Open road for miles, very little traffic, given the pandemic even few tourists. The Route 66 sign is a must see, and Roy's Gas/Hotel has an authentic vibe to it, but best of all were the salt flats - check them out because they are beautiful. The area is stunning, make sure you have lots of liquid on you and a full tank of gas because it's going to be deserted for a whileeeee.
Mojave Trails National Monument, located in Southern California's inland desert area,is a really great experience for families, singles, teens and senior citizens! A great adventure awaits you as you travel down long peaceful expanses of desert roadway surrounded by scenic mountains, ghost towns, historic sites and wild life! We started our adventure at Joshua Tree National Park drove through 29 Palms and headed north to the town of Amboy and Roys Motel and Cafe and beyond to Afton Canyon. There are trails and slot canyons to hike, places to camp, sand dunes to climb,a crater to see,old mining areas to check out and places just to stop and breathe in clean desert air! Google a map of the area, fill your tank with gas or charge the batteries, and start your Mojave Trails National Monument experience! . . . . . #mojavetrailsnationalmonument #trails #camping #californiadeserts #amboy #roysmotelandcafe #route66 #aftoncanyon #visitamboy #visit29palms #cadizdunes #sanddunes #29palms #29palmsmurals #getyourkicksonroute66 #nationaltrailshighway #joshuatreenationalpark #joshuatree #marinecorp #29palmscalifornia #waynesalvatti #seetheusa #photografxworldwide #goseejoshuatree
