Mom and Pops Campground, located at 300 Strand Rd, Muskegon, MI 49445, offers a campground experience with lakeside views and convenient highway access. You can reach them at (231) 766-3900 or +1 231-766-3900.
As part of the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, Mom and Pops Campground presents a mix of positive and negative experiences, according to customer reviews. While the location and natural features are appreciated, concerns have been raised about the facilities and management.
The campground's location features two lakes, which are praised for their scenic beauty and walking trails. Guests have enjoyed fishing and relaxing by the water. The campground's proximity to the highway offers convenient access to nearby beaches and attractions, making it suitable for day trips.
However, the highway proximity also results in significant noise, which some guests found disruptive, especially at night. This may be a consideration for campers sensitive to traffic noise.
A major point of concern is the condition of the bathrooms. Reviews consistently mention issues with cleanliness and maintenance. The women's bathroom was reported to be poorly maintained, with clogged toilets and a lack of cleaning over several days. The men's bathroom also had significant sanitation problems, requiring direct complaints to the owner for resolution.
The owner's response to these complaints has been a point of contention. Some guests felt that the owner's approach of blaming campers, particularly children, for the condition of the facilities was unprofessional and unsatisfactory.
Additionally, the water quality has been questioned, with reports of an unpleasant taste. The showers are also described as being in poor condition, with limited functionality.
Overall, Mom and Pops Campground offers a location with appealing natural features and convenient highway access. However, potential campers should be aware of the reported issues with bathroom cleanliness, noise from the highway, and concerns about the owner's responsiveness. It is recommended to inquire about current conditions before making a reservation.

Customer Reviews
Our campsite & the 2 lakes on site were great. The trails around the lakes were great for walking & had a few spots to pull off and watch the water or fish. The campground is right off the highway which made for convenient travel to the beach & other day trips but also made for loud traffic sounds at night, fine for anyone who doesn’t mind the white noise. Our main struggle with our experience was the bathrooms, similar to many other reviews listed. While we never expect much out of a camping bathroom, grateful for any kind of shower at the end of the day, the women’s bathroom did not appear to be cleaned for the duration of the 4 day stay, with two toilets remaining clogged for at least two days. The men’s bathroom had fecal matter smeared on the floor for over 12 hours & was not cleaned until complaints were made directly to the owner. While the location is nice & the staff in general was friendly, the professionalism of the owner leaves much to be desired. Blaming the mess of the facilities on the campers (specifically kids) rather than take responsibility or offer any apology to the patrons left quite the sour taste by the time we made our departure. Overall we had a nice stay up until our last day.
This was our first time here and last. The camp is located very close to the highway and therefore the noise was unbelievably loud all day and night. Specially at night was impossible to sleep and because of that we left earlier than we planned. The bathrooms are very small and in very bad conditions. Only one out of two showers worked and the taste of the water to wash your mouth was horrible (take bottles of water). We love camping but this time was our worst experience ever.
My husband and I travel in our motor home and we stayed here on and off for almost 2 weeks before we moved on due to the season ending. Conveniently located right off of the highway and check in was a very smooth and straight forward process. Very quiet and peaceful. The small lake is well maintained and the trail around is beautiful and perfect for walking or running with your pets. There is a cute little playground with plenty of activities for children as well. The owner is very nice and social. We will be returning, no doubt!
We had a fantastic time! We rented the Deluxe cabin for 3 nights, it was comfortable and cozy & clean! We had a great patio deck, wrought iron table /chairs and a Weber gas grill they supplied the propane! Minutes from lake Michigan, canoe liveries and Michigan Adventure! The campground was clean and well maintained! The beach area/lake was clean, comfortable and extremely relaxing. They have a diving/jumping pad that was so much fun! Plenty of activities, such as fishing, bike, paddle boat rentals, Air pad for jumping, playground, and mini zip line. I'm sure I'm missing other activities! The staff was amazing from the camp store, to the men on gators, were always around for anything we may have needed! Listen to their suggestions for area info, wish we did when we chose where to tube! We'll be back! Thank you for the experience Muskegon KOA!
Loved this place. Came with my family. The kids loved the playground. The beach area was clean and safe. They have lifejackets for rent in the shop and everything else you'd need. The trail around the lake was awesome.
