Mono campground is beautiful, secluded and at the end of a superbly scenic drive...it would be amazing if it weren't for the insane amount of ticks. I go camping all the time and I've never experienced such terror before in my life! I experienced more ticks in the one evening than I have in my entire dog-owning, camping lifetime. We left the campground immediately because the infestation was so rampant and went straight to washing all our belongings, our dogs, ourselves and our car. Yet here I am, 2 days later still finding ticks. Like living out a horror movie.
I concur with the other reviewer "B. S.". A beautiful area but over-run with ticks. We camped there a few years ago and the ticks were overwhelming. If you are going to camp here make sure to treat your gear and clothing with permethrin.
Campground has been flooded out twice now--in 2016 and 2018, and is a bit of a mess. Some tables are still buried. Some of the buried oaks are dying.
lots of ticks
