Moonbase

We had a wonderful time at Moonbase Camp! The owners were very helpful and hospitable. Our questions were answered promptly and recommendations were given to us regarding things to do/see around the area. The tent is spacious, aesthetic, and has so many compartments to store your belongings away. The bed was very comfy; the heating mattress topper is amazing! The restrooms and showers are so clean. We are glad we had the accessibility to go stargazing in comfort.

Seriously one of the best night's sleep I've ever had. Moonbase is the perfect getaway for anyone who's looking to reconnect with nature but not have to go too far away from the DMV area. The drive to West Virginia was only a little under 2 hours away. When we arrived, we were immediately greeted by the owner/host and were given a tour of the facilities. Each jupe tent was equipped with a parking spot, fire pit, bed, ample storage space, and charging ports. The beds also have heating pads, so we did not have to worry about the cold at all. The style of each tent and the way that they light up at night is beautiful and minimalistic. The campground also has a full shower and bathroom with hot water and amenities. You can even rent a telescope to see the stars at night! The sky was so clear that we could see Saturn & Jupiter. We enjoyed sitting around the campfire, stargazing, and being out in nature. The next day, we went to the nearby town of Berkeley Springs (~20-25 minute drive) that has a farmers market every Sunday. We bought some locally made pastries and food. The town also has plenty of other activities, such as antique shopping. So glad we were able to catch the fall foliage during our time at Moonbase, but we can't wait to see what it's like in all of the other seasons!

AMAZING!!! This was an incredible experience, and I highly recommend it. First, the Moonbase “cabins” are so nice and very well-designed. They are very functional, have a lot of storage, and are SO comfy (seriously the bed and pillows are wonderful). It was warm when we visited but the mattresses have heating pads on them which make them suitable year-round! The facilities are also great. Fun communal areas, clean bathrooms and showers, and nice property. Close to hiking/outdoor trail areas for adventuring nearby, and close to Berkeley Springs if you want to explore the town. At the property, we used one of the telescopes to see the moon and beautiful night sky which was great. The light pollution is almost nonexistent at the property, and you get a decent about of privacy considering all the factors and that this isn’t primitive off-grid camping. They’re also dog-friendly which is a plus! We got to spend some time with one of the hosts (John) and he was awesome and so kind. He brought us coffee, warm cookies, and (the best part) great company!! As someone who typically backpacks and/or primitive camps, Moonbase is definitely different from that kind of experience but let me say, it’s SO worth it!!! I wouldn’t normally pick something similar to a “glamping” experience (hate that word but it’s the easiest way to describe it) but I’m so, so glad I did this!!! I really can’t speak highly enough of Moonbase, and my husband and I are already planning two more trips!! Thanks again for the amazing experience, Moonbase!

Best getaway yet. The hosts are so accommodating, hospitable and kind. One of the hosts let us use his telescope to look up at the gorgeous stars and planets. Bathrooms are so clean and calming. I woke up directly in front of the sunrise. Plentiful in firewood for bonfires. Peaceful and quiet. The comfy beds have are heated for the cold. Such a beautifully curated space. Definitely will be coming back! Thank you John and Sani!

The jupes/tents were so much bigger in person. Loved that it came with solar powered charging stations and storage space so that we could enjoy the sleek aesthetic while camping. The bathrooms were also clean and AC controlled, which was a plus. John and Sani were wonderful hosts. Looking forward to coming back in the winter to enjoy the coziness by the fire!
