I hate giving this three stars because it is so close to four. I'm subtracting two stars due to the rooms being so hot at night, very little room lighting, and then when you sleep the blue light coming from the fridge kills you. The last thing is NO TV in the rooms???? This was shocking. We are in the mountains but to see news and weather would have been great. There is a cafeteria located in another building minutes away where you can buy food, milk, or even beer. Really unless you go hiking the only sites are parking lots full of visitors.
Moran is one of the newest lodges. It doesn’t have any old cabin / old carpet / musty smell. I booked a room in the new lodge category and specifically requested Moran. Canyon village is centrally located. If you are staying more than 3-4 days I think staying in two locations like canyon lodge plus old faithful cuts down on driving time. Yellowstone is huge and speed limit is often 15-25 plus the roads are curvy and can be congested with majestic indigenous animals.
Spacious rooms and beds. I liked their bathtub, really large and clean! Well designed! Nice view of the woods, and I spotted 2 deers🦌...
A newer building with The Yellowstone feel of a old lodge but light wood work on all doors and trim. Very comfortable beds with a super tub and shower to relieve the aches and pains after a day of hiking. The ground floor have some rooms with a covered porch to enjoy the scenery. Loved the lodge and make your reservations early if you want any chance of getting in. Staying in the park is a HUGE advantage. Rather than fighting traffic you are an hour closer to the sights each day. Great central location. Stayed 4 days here then moved it Old Faithful Lodge area, specifically The Snow Lodge, also Fantastic!
We stayed three nights in Moran lodge. We had a large soaking tub which was perfect after a long day of hiking. The rooms have refrigerators, coffee makers but no microwave. There was a deer right behind our window one morning. I would definitely stay there again.
