Went early to secure a parking spot at Misquito flat trail head for the Little lakes valley hike ! The hike was amazing and scenic the whole way with 7 lakes to enjoy ! I highly recommend this hike !!
bathroom needs cleaning, but that is an issue with the people. minimal parking so get as many people in order e car as you can. the aspens were beautiful, but the storm awhile back made them change colors at different rates. Just hiking even a few yards is gorgeous.
There’s a great little campground hear that you can stay at. There’s also a large parking lot where you can join the trail head. My son and I started here and went in about 3 miles. There are a number of lakes that you can say share you can also fish the stream on the way up. Beautiful views.
Rock Creek (as long as you want it to be, up to about 10 miles) This hike is wonderful because it is beautiful and can truly be as long as you want it to be. Start at the Mosquito Flat trailhead and make your way slowly up. This trail is never steep, but your starting elevation is about 10,000 feet, so you’ll be surprised by your heavy breathing. Follow the wildflower dusted trail along the creek to various lakes and enjoy the scenery. Keep walking the mostly flat trail as long as you want, and on your return, once you’ve made it back to the car, drive to the nearby resort for pie.
Wilderness permit only needed for overnights. Hiking from here is great with beautiful views. Easy enough with kids, although the altitude will make you breathe heavy if you're not used to it.
High altitude campground. One of the highest roads in the eastern Sierra.
