Terrible place bathrooms and campsite were very dirty... bathroom toilet mouse drawn and was floating, dirty toilets dirty showers. Campsite fire pit was filled with beer cans and lots of garbage in th woods right next to..the map shows that there's a pond, I asked the owner and he didn't want to give directions.
This campground makes no sense—the check-in location is hidden behind overgrown shrubs and looks like a private residence. I would have checked there to ask to use the restroom but wasn't even sure it was public. We drove in and were appalled at the state of things. Tiny, narrow roads, trash-filled sites, and once we found the bathroom, it felt like something out of a slasher flick... My 6-year-old said she was waiting for something to jump out at her. Pay attention to the recent reviews and steer clear.
My dad used to bring us every year for Columbus day weekend. Had a blast at Carl's campground! Does he still do the huge bonfires? One year it had an old camper in the middle of the fire, it was awesome!! Miss this place, hope to visit again soon.
Four of us rolled up on our bicycles and Carl and Lisa were so accommodating. They let us hang out for over an hour on the porch waiting for a thunderstorm to pass. The campground was well maintained, with picnic tables and fire rings. Carl dropped off wood for a reasonable fee and made sure we were all set. The bathhouse was a welcome sight and includes laundry and hot showers. There were numerous campers who clearly had season-long spots and everyone was super friendly. I'm hoping this could be a place I could bring my camper bus in the future.
Terrible dirty dangerous drunk filled dump. Creeps drive atvs drunk at all hours of night and poke through other people's campsites loudly. Bathrooms were fetid with piss. Generators running all night with stinking diesel fumes throughout. All the charm of a Walmart parking lot with none of the amenities.
