The campground offers breathtaking views that are nothing short of spectacular. Surrounded by towering trees and nestled in the shadow of Mount Timpanogos itself, every direction you look is like something out of a postcard. One of the best parts of this campground is the sense of tranquility it provides. Overall, Mount Timpanogos Campground offers everything you could want for a perfect camping trip—stunning scenery, quiet surroundings, and the chance to immerse yourself in the beauty of the great outdoors. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to recharge in nature. I'll definitely be coming back!
The view is pretty spectacular, but it's getting more and more crowded every year. On a weekend you can expect dozens of cars driving by looking for a place to camp, some as late as midnight.
Do not confuse this location with the actual US Forest Service Mount Timpanogos Campground, which is near Aspen Grove and Sundance Ski Resort - on east side of the mountain - along highway SR-92. In Google Maps, the names of these two locations are exactly the same, but this location is not the one that most people will be looking for. This campground, because it is not an official campground, does not have a formal name. I requested that Google change the name of this location (the unorganized / unmaintained campground) because it could easily be confused with the organized / official USFS Mount Timpanogos Campground, but Google rejected my request. That is why I have provided this information; hopefully this will helps some folks who are trying to get to the actual Mount Timpanogos US Forest Service campground. This campsite is one of many places where "dispersed" camping is allowed; it is not an official USFS campground. There is no picnic table, concrete fire ring, drinking water, or toilets. The road to get here (Timpooneke Road) is a very rough dirt road; it is so rough (and gets rougher each year) that vehicles almost surely need both high ground clearance and four wheel drive to get to this location. This dirt road usually opens sometime in June and closes around the first of November Because this is not a USFS campground with a concrete fire ring and concrete pad, campfires often get restricted earlier in the year than at USFS campgrounds, which in recent years has been in July or August. But if you can make it here, the views are great, and you get more solitude than along the Alpine Loop (SR-92).
I had a good time here nature was beautiful and liked our camp hosts
We just got to be in nature
