Located at 39 Ray Lake Rd, Lander, WY 82520, this charming RV park and campground offers a unique opportunity to experience the great outdoors while enjoying modern amenities and unparalleled views.

Mountain View Camp Ground is strategically situated just off US 287, approximately 8 miles from Interstate 26. This makes it easily accessible for those traveling through Wyoming's beautiful countryside. The campsite is located on a hilltop, offering breathtaking vistas of the continental divide to the west and expansive views of the surrounding ranches. Guests can enjoy the serene environment and fresh mountain air while being just minutes away from local attractions such as Ray Lake, where visitors can swim or ski during warmer months.

The campground provides well-maintained sites with level surfaces, ideal for RVs and tents. While most sites do not have shade due to limited tree cover, some areas offer shaded spots. The campsite is equipped with essential utilities, including electric, water, and sewer connections. For larger rigs, 50 amp service is recommended during peak summer months to ensure a comfortable stay.

  • Proximity to Attractions: Mountain View Camp Ground is close to several points of interest, including Ray Lake for swimming and skiing, Lander town for dining and shopping, and a local casino with good food options.
  • Local Community: The campground is situated in an area where the locals are known for their friendliness. Guests often describe interactions with the community as welcoming and memorable.

Customer feedback highlights both the strengths and areas for improvement at Mountain View Camp Ground. While some guests appreciate the affordability and natural beauty, others have noted outdated facilities such as gravel paths that need maintenance and limited shade on most sites. Additionally, there have been reports of poor communication during phone inquiries, suggesting room for improvement in customer service.

Despite these challenges, Mountain View Camp Ground remains a beloved choice for those seeking an authentic camping experience with stunning views. Its remote location ensures peace and quiet, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.

Reservations: Joe responded promptly to our call to make reservations. He was exceptionally friendly, helpful, and professional. Access from major highway: Campground is located just off US 287 about 8 miles off Interstate 26. All roads are good. No clearance issues. Site condition: The site was level. It needs a fresh coat of gravel, but unless there has been recent rain then the earth is quite stable. Utilities: Electric, water, and sewer were all good. If you have a big rig then you'll want 50 amp service in the summer as there are no trees for most transient sites. I was lucky enough to be writing this review from a site with trees on both sides. Local attractions: The campground, as it name implies, affords great views of the continental divide to the west. The campground sits on a hill and thus provides distant views of the ranches that surround this campground/ranch. It is walking distance from Ray Lake where the locals go to swim and ski on hot summer afternoons. If you grew up in Daytona Beach then you will not be favorably impressed. The closest town is Lander, about 9.4 miles south on US 287. There is a casino about 4 miles down US 287 that I'm told has good food. The locals: The campground residents were very friendly as you expect from folks from Wyoming. Amenities: No bathrooms or showers. You must be self reliant. This is not a resort. You are here for the scenery and the astonishingly low prices. Internet access: No wifi. There is excellent AT&T signal and quite usable Verizon signal. Throughput on Verizon has been great. Both carriers have provided rock solid reliability at this remote location. The owners are two of the finest human beings that I've ever had the pleasure to know. If you spend a while on the porch with them you will come away a better person.

Not sure who's running this campground but I just called to inquire about rates and reservations and was told by the sweet older lady who answered that she didn't know anything, she was just a passerby in the operation. I asked if there was someone who could help, she said there was no one around to tell her. I asked if there was a better time for me to call and she said maybe call back middle of the month (about 2 weeks away). I hope this is not the owner everyone speaks so highly of in the reviews. That would be sad. I was looking forward to possibly staying here.

Joe and Louanne are the kindest souls on the planet. We stopped in without a reservation and they went out of their way to make sure we got settled in. These two are the only amenities you'll need here. Of course the water, electric and sewer are here along with a beautiful view.

I called ahead the morning of and was told I could have a site if I made it before dark. The owner is a sweet older woman who gave me detailed directions and was outside waving me down when I arrived! The GPS brought me right where I needed to be, and I could see the other campers from the main road, but the hospitality really made my stay! If I am ever back in the area I will make it a point to stop back in, and you should as well!

No WiFi , not a lot here. But the utilities worked great , a very sweet and friendly elderly couple own and run it , it's very quiet. And we only paid $12.50 a night to stay here with our Passport America Discount. If you looking for a place just to spend a night or two while traveling through , I would certainly recommend the Mountain View Campground. I gave this place 5 stars not for what it has to offer, but for the kindness and friendliness the owners treated us with. JT ( Scenic Driveways on YouTube & Facebook )

Louann is beautiful. She said just come on in so I did. I think his name is Robert, I'm only here for one night and totally accommodating. Always nice to have a spotter when traveling alone. So quiet and peaceful. And you can't beat the price.
