Incredible place! Absolutely beautiful. My wife camped here as a kid & wanted to have our small wedding here. They were extremely accommodating & helped us out a TON to do so. The weather, spots, people, & entire campground were so beautiful. We had so many people here that LOVED the entire experience. Can not recommend this campground enough to anyone looking in the area.
We have now stayed at Mountaineer Campground twice and the experience gets better each time. Located on the peaceful side of the Smokys, you are just minutes from the Smoky Mountain National Park and all the great hiking trails. The owners are awesome and the bathhouse is always clean. Much better than most other campgrounds the area. Definitely coming back.
Wonderful little campground. Most sites have full hookups, concrete patios, with picnic table and fire ring. Premises are well kept. Clean laundry room, with two washers and two driers. There is a folding table and ironing board. Several books thread and chairs forest while waiting. Clean showers. Trash is picked up at your site if you place it at curb early morning. Owners are very nice and live on site. There are bicycle paths that start in front of campground, that give you easy access to the entire town of Townsend. Next door is a mountain bike course which is free to use. Only con is parking space is snug for tow vehicles.
This is the best campground in Townsend! My husband and I, and our dog have been coming here for about 3 years and won’t stay at another camp ground. What makes ALL the difference is the campground managers- Wendy and Matt! From the first summer we stayed here, they were so kind to us, and extremely helpful if anything is ever needed! Matt once even changed my tire. We are currently staying here, and have noticed the many upgrades since Matt and Wendy took over as managers. The bathrooms are updated, pool, etc. They (and other camp hosts) keep the property very well kept. The bathrooms are always clean, the pool area, and other general spaces like picnic benches etc.. are very clean. also the cabins are small/quaint, but very well kept, comfortable, and clean! They have truly made this little campground a (not so) hidden gem in Townsend!
I came here for a wedding by the creek at the campground, and it was absolutely beautiful! The campground was very accommodating for wedding guests and pets. Cabins are clean (bring your own linens), rv sites are gravel but they’re level, tent sites are near the creek so you can fall asleep to the sound of the creek running :) bathrooms are clean and staff is very kind.
