Mountainview Campground, located at 135 Goritz Rd, Milford, NJ 08848, is known for its exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, particularly the owner, Tim. You can reach them at (908) 996-2953 or +1 908-996-2953.
Based on customer reviews, Mountainview Campground provides a welcoming atmosphere. The staff is highly praised for their willingness to assist campers, even going above and beyond to help with vehicle issues. The campground offers a sense of community, with friendly fellow campers and a helpful, hands-on owner.
The campground provides essential amenities, including hot showers and clean bathhouses. Sites are described as spacious, offering a reasonable amount of privacy. A notable feature is the availability of 15 amp hookups (standard household outlets), which is convenient for tent and car campers needing to charge devices. Water hookups and dump stations are also available for RVs. Firewood is sold on site, and during some visits, campers have enjoyed seeing roaming animals and using the playground.
However, there are a few drawbacks. The roads within the campground are reported to be rough and uneven. Campsites are not marked with numbers, which can make navigation challenging, especially at night, as there are limited lights outside of the bathroom areas. One reviewer mentioned that they are an interracial couple and did not experience any mistreatment, which was a response to a previous review that had mentioned mistreatment.
Here's a summary of the reported features:
Mountainview Campground is highly recommended for campers who appreciate a friendly and helpful environment. The staff's dedication to ensuring a positive experience, combined with the campground's essential amenities, makes it a desirable destination. While the rough roads and unmarked campsites are minor inconveniences, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive.

I have to give this camp ground owner Tim two thumbs up and more. I had my car broke down this weekend as soon as when my family arrived the site. our friendly camping neighbor Mike and Cori charged my jump starter for me. Tim, let me use his tools, made phone calls to someone who can help me to fix car and took my drained battery to charge and brought back. after all done, he taught us about plants. spice wood and birch wood. both have really nice scents to it. this place is nice with hot shower and clean bath house. most importantly it is so nice to be around good people here..., thank you Tim and all.
This is a great campsite. The staff is friendly and nice. They even came out to show us where the hookups were when we couldn’t find them. The sites are nicely spaced out and you have a reasonable amount of privacy. We didn’t have problems with other guests bothering us or being inconsiderate. The bathrooms aren’t the most updated but they have flush toilets and showers. I love that they have 15 amp hookups (standard household outlets). So if you are tent or car camping, you can charge your devices. Many sites only have rv hookups so this is a great addition. We didn’t use these amenities but there are water hookups and dump stations. They have firewood for sale. During our visit, they had cute animals roaming in the area before you get to the sites as well as a playground. The are only a few downsides. The roads are kind of rough and uneven to drive on. The campsites are unmarked so you might have a hard time leaving and coming back. And there are no lights at nights except for the bathroom. I hope they mark the campsites with numbers in the future. P.S. another review mentioned being mistreated due to their race. We are an interracial couple (black/white) and did not experience this.
This is a great campsite if you are looking for near primitive experience. Site itself was pretty big, other tents were quite far and surrounded by bushes or trees. If you are too far inside, using facilities can be tricky due to rocky roads and long walk towards the entrance.
I have never been to this campground but i called to get some info and spoke with Doug. You were so nice to let me pick your brain for a few minutes. I really appreciate that! You da the best for that homie!
Things were great until creepy guy rides up on a bike and threatens to call the cops/evict us for noise @ midnight. Thing is, there’s nobody there because a storm is on the way. 3 ladies, 1 guy singing some songs with nobody within 100 yards. He woke the owner @ 12:30 and brought her up. Everything else was fine, but we’ll never go there again. Creepy.
Such a peaceful and well-kept campground, it’s the kind of place that makes you feel at home right away. The sites are clean, well-spaced, and have that classic, down-to-earth charm. A lot of them come with water and electric hookups, even some of the more basic ones, which is a big plus. If you're new to camping, the field sites are a great option, open, easy to access, and perfect for relaxing. I’ve been here several times already and I really enjoy it every time. What truly makes this place special are the owners, Magda and Tim. They’re incredibly kind, helpful, and clearly passionate about what they do. You can feel the care they’ve put into every part of the campground. Definitely a spot worth visiting!
Great place clean bathrooms and quit. The owners are very friendly & helpful my son got a flat on his bike and the owner stopped what he was doing to repair it thanks again 👍
