Beautiful views after an afternoon of snowfall, incredible air quality, vibrant moss along every tree! Definitely will be coming back and spending time on some of the trails!
My colleagues and I had a small window to explore the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, so we made the most of it. Coming from Texas and Georgia this was a serious treat. For the time we had in the forest, exploring a few areas and pockets of open space, was calming and quite relaxing.
I have been going up to Greenwater for the last year or so to go shooting. There are two different shooting locations that are authorized to use. First of all, I am heading East past the town of Greenwater. Once you go past the town keep going until you get to the fire station. About 1 mile past the fire station you come to Service Road 70. Take a left on the service road and go about 5 miles and you'll come to the main shooting area which is a huge gravel pit. I go past there on to another one that is a short distance from the main one. Be careful because there are many signs that say, "NO TARGET SHOOTING". It's very peaceful and I have met some very nice people along the way. If you're into shooting guns and you don't like the range this is the place for you!!!
The view is breathtaking on the top in all directions. The trail is well-established. The parking lot on the top is not that big but I've seen some vehicles parked on the side of the road. You need to book a pass to park here. This place is popular for wedding and prenup photography. There's a lot to explore along the way too. There is a washroom in the parking lot.
I hiked to one of the most beautiful lakes in existence: Lake Blanca. It was worth the 8 mile round trip and 3000ft elevation climb. The trail is in good shape but a little rough on the descent to Lake Blanca after passing Virgin Lake.
