The views are amazing! It's right off the main road, and while there's not much privacy between sites (which are fairly close), waking up in a bed of flowers is quite an experience! Of course, this depends on the season, but it's a great place to stay right outside of Crested Butte. There's a clean porta-potty in the parking lot, which is close to the campsites, making it easy to car camp. Other than the traffic noise, it's a fairly quiet site. I would stay here again if I'm in the area!

I commend and thank the City of Crested Butte for providing 26 primitive walk-in tent spots for free. It's next to the best spectacular wildflower hills in Colorado. Wildflowers are abundant at the campsite, making it very pretty in the spring. Two porta-potties are in the parking lot; no water, bus stop. No sleeping in vehicles. Please respect the rules and keep the area pristine to keep this free and available. Try not to trample the wildflowers. I've not seen any popular ski mountain town be this amiable. Hiking, horse, & biking trails are close. Limited parking spaces. Open Memorial Day to Labor Day (approximately May 27-Sep 2).

Beautiful campsite in the middle of a wildflower field! 360 views of the mountains; however, it is pretty close to town, so it doesn't feel like you are entirely in the wilderness. Designated spots are flat and great for setting up a tent. Porta-potties were also kept decently clean. Spots are pretty close together, but other than that, I cannot recommend this enough if you can find a spot!!

Beautiful when the flowers are blooming! Flies during the day when we set up, and the porta-potties were full. Other than that, a fantastic stop! No fires allowed.
