Great location, as they are located right on the water. Nice views. We asked and received confirmation that we were getting a full hook-up site, to be surprised at arrival that they only had a few full hook-ups, and we did not make the cut. We were there for 4 night, and arrived with full tanks. They did attempt to make it better by moving us near the water, however, those sites were also NOT full hook-up. You can't expect guests to unhook halfway through their stay, tow their RV to the dump station and then reconnect (we had to). Further.... There was some type of sewage work being done while we were there, and our site was downwind from this mess. For two days we had raw sewage smell permeating though the sites by the water. The staff was not helpful with any of the issues we brought to them. Mind you, they did smiled while telling us they had no help, and they did say "sorry". End of the day, they ruined what could have been a perfectly good vacation to Bar Harbor. Rest assure we will not be back (not that they care one bit). This is no way to run a "hospitality" business.
This is my opinion and should be taken as such. This was our first time staying here. The surrounding area was pretty stellar. Acadia, Bar Harbor and all the other touristy things to do. The campground was ok. The sites on the water have pretty great views, but they are tiny. Not really a lot of acreage. The campground itself seems to be in need of some attending to. The heated pool was pretty nice The staff was pleasant, the store was nice. I would probably visit elsewhere if we came back. Middle of the road campground.
All in all, it's just mediocre. Paying a lot of money for not a lot. I stayed at one of the tent sites, there are no bathrooms for the tent sites. The closest bath house was near the entrance as the second one was closed. The open one was very dirty. Pretty sure I spent $60 for no electric, no water, but I did have a view. I noticed that the RV sites are pretty much on top of eachother. Honestly, I wouldn't do it again.
We called them days leading up to our stay, every day. We wouldn’t get a call back until the next day. No one ever answered the phone. The sites were nice but close together. I think the sites here are hit or miss. Showers were hot except for the older ones (check shower head). People did tend to stay quiet come 10PM. Bathrooms were clean. Overall the campground is maintained.
We paid over $700 for 5 nights for a “premium” site at this camping “resort.” Premium only means full hookups, so don’t be fooled. You’re not able to choose a site here and they places us in the tiniest site with no separation at all from our neighbor, directly next to a dump station and bathhouse. We couldn’t sit outside at all because of the constant aroma of someone else’s poop. We got to listen to the slamming of the (apparently broken) bathroom doors and the idling of trucks in the bathhouse parking lot all day and night. The “resort” is also very close to the highway so we had constant road noise as well. There were lots of open sites that we would have preferred, had we been given the choice. Our review may have been different if we were given the option to choose our own site. The only thing this place has going for it is its proximity to Bar Harbor. This is definitely not a resort. It’s somewhere to sleep while you’re in the area. If the actual camping part of your vacation is important to you, this is not the campground for you. If you don’t care where you sleep (or how much you pay to sleep) while you’re here, you might enjoy it. We never even put our camp chairs out. We won’t be back.
