Good for kids
We needed a retreat center that could accommodate a medium group (around 30 people) of college-aged women from multiple cities and Mt Shepherd was perfect! We were able to enjoy fabulous food (including adjustments for dietary needs), activity options, and simple a/v access for presentations. The staff was very helpful and kind. We stayed in the Hedgecock building. Each room had its own temperature control (one room did not have heat however?) and were connected to a long hallway attached to the dining and meeting space. 10/10 would recommend for a retreat or training.
Our church had our retreat here. The weather was gorgeous, the place is very clean and very nice! The bathrooms, the staff are great. I love the fact that it is in the woods, quiet, rustic and where you eat at in the building there , you can sit and look out of the windows and see woods. I love it and will go back. Any church can go and stay there. They are very welcoming. We want to keep places like this open, they don't make them like this anymore. There is a huge pond, many hiking trails!
Hiked up to the former fire lookout tower. Hike is steep on the Duckwall Trail, but it's only 0.9 mile. Nice area to hike in. Check in at the office before you start your hike.
The staff is awesome. Both of my kids had a blast at camp!
Fabulous staff and nice accomodations for our confirmation youth retreat!
