The scenery is not awesome, but it is nice. It is a clean nice camp set up. Just don't go walking around the outer campsite. There is a big patch of poison ivy. All in all we had fun and would go camping here again
Need a state park sticker to fish it and park. Otherwise it's almost 20 if you don't. This lake has nice pan fish. Huge pike!! Walleyes and some huge small and large mouth bass. Even dogfish on tip ups. A bit of everything...
The bulk of this Natural Area is largely inaccessible without at least knee-high rubber boots. The wetlands around the lake and Rock Creek are mostly very mucky and difficult to hike through, not to mention the poison sumac that is abundant in places. There is a nice little fen near Rock Creek, if you don't mind bushwhacking through some dense shrub thickets and marshy habitat to reach it. Kayaking from the Sandhill Station Campground may be an option, but I haven't attempted that yet.
Campground was nice (walk-to, tent only). Many sites have little shade during morning and afternoon, bathrooms were in especially good condition.
Lots of mosquitos, and the ponds and docks are not fishable due to too much weed in the ponds and docks are too narrow. Can't fish period unless you have a small watercraft.
