This spot seemed to be shut down. We had to go up the road a little to a different turn off, the one that said “Warm Springs” not “Radium Springs.” Our other spot was pretty good though. It was big enough for 4 tents for 9 people. Road wasn’t too bad getting in but would recommend a truck or suv. Plenty of little kindling for a fire which was nice too. The hiking trails were right down from our spot as well, unfortunately the river still had too much water and the hot spring wasn’t hot, but it was all still beautiful!
Beautiful sites! The ones closer to the entrance seem to be less buggy. Bring your own water. The only reason it's 4, not 5 stars is because the toilet could have used some attention before or during the long weekend, by Sunday it was just about unusable.
We really enjoyed this campsite! Mostly for the hot springs being only 20 minutes away. There were various fire rings strewn about, and this was all the designation of "campsites" there was. More of just a large parking area with fire rings interspersed. The vault toilet was usable, although a little dirty. We were the only vehicle staying the night. The rest of the vehicles in the parking lot were just visiting the hot springs. The walk to the hot springs was easy to follow, and very nice after a long day's drive.
Good backup site if the BLM campground is full. There is no sign but if you look for the vault toilet you are in the right area. Kind of grungy and disorganized. However a site with a toilet often beats a legally questionable boondocking site. We visited in mid September 2021. This campground maybe closed permanently soon with the new Radium BLM campground now operating fully. Be aware of this and have an alternate plan just in case.
Mugrage is completely awesome Campground. Had a great time with a private campsite next to the creek that runs through it. Not too far from radium Warm Springs and the Colorado River is right there. Cliff jumping an awesome this time of the year. Tons of people on the river and had a great time once again.
