Based on customer reviews, Mustang Ridge Campground offers beautiful surroundings and spacious campsites but faces significant challenges with water availability and RV size limitations.
Key features and observations from customer feedback include:
- Scenic Surroundings: The campground is located in an absolutely stunning area.
- Spacious Campsites: The campsites are somewhat spread out, providing privacy.
- Bathroom Availability: There are numerous bathrooms available.
- Proximity to Visitor Center: The campground is close to the visitor center and hiking trails.
- No Running Water: The campground currently has no running water due to ongoing pipe repairs. This impacts showers and water refill.
- Dirty Bathrooms: The bathrooms are reported to be dirty.
- Bathroom Distance: The bathrooms may not be conveniently close to all campsites.
- RV Size Limitations:
- Large 5th wheel trailers (over 35 feet) are not recommended due to site layout and access.
- The website may allow booking for larger RVs, but the sites are not suitable.
- National Park campsites, in general, may not accommodate large 5th wheels.
- Host Frustration: The campground host is reported to be nice but frustrated with the misinformation and limitations.
- Alternative Options: The Dutch John RV park is recommended as a better option for large RVs.
Mustang Ridge Campground is ideal for campers seeking scenic surroundings and spacious campsites. However, the lack of running water and significant RV size limitations are critical considerations. Campers with large 5th wheels should avoid this campground and consider alternative options like the Dutch John RV park. The dirty bathrooms and potential inconvenience of bathroom distance are also factors to consider. The campground is best suited for smaller campers and those prepared for limited amenities. It is highly recommended that campers call ahead to confirm water availability before arrival.

Customer Reviews
Good: - We had a great campsite. They are somewhat spread out so you aren't on top of other campers. - The surrounding area is absolutely stunning. - Lots of bathrooms. - Close to the visitor center and other hikes. Bad: - The pipes are being fixed for water so currently the water doesn't work (for showers or to refill any containers). - The bathrooms weren't super close to our campsite. - The bathrooms were dirty. We camped with an a-frame camper so we were able to get around fine. We enjoyed our time here, but most likely wouldn't come back.
2 items: 1. For ANYONE booking here and under the assumption they have running water, they Don’t. They had a pipe burst over a month ago. NO RUNNING WATER. 2. For anyone with a 5th wheel trailer over 35’, DO NOT book a camp site here. For reference, I have a 45’ 5th wheel with a F350 SRW CC LB. The website will allow you to select 60’, but none of the spots have a straight shot at 60’. Most larger spots are on a radius and were probably measured using the larger/outer circumference of the spot. I have towed all sorts of trailers for 30+ years. Upon speaking to the Host, he let us know that none of the National Parks are big enough for a 5th wheel, contrary to what the website allows. The host was a nice fella and sounded frustrated as well. 1 star for the lack of misinformation. Better option is the Dutch John RV park just 10 minutes away.
Stayed here many times over the decades. Great view of lake and dam from the lakeside sites( or a short walk from rest of campground) . Has showers and a boat ramp. The manager warned us of people stealing your ticket from your campsite designation post to get you kicked out so they can take your campsite if its better than theirs, also some fishing guides will do it also to get premium sites for their clients. So make friends with the management so they know you and where and how long your staying. Other than that its a great place
This place is beautiful and I love that it's close to the water. The campgrounds are clean and well maintained. The down side is there are a lot of people and they only have one flush toilet bathroom/showers serving tons of camp sites. They have other vault and pit toilets which work but aren't as nice and clean. Management seemed nice to me. Loved all the greenery and trees as that we could walk to the water. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here!
Mustang Ridge has great campgrounds and is really close to a great beach. They had nice campsites and plenty of parking for multiple cars and a boat. The bathrooms were the only real downside with tons of flies which seems like a problem that could be improved with fly paper or some other solution. A great price, and showers are available!
