One of the standout features of Narrows Recreation Area is its access to water-based activities. The park is a popular spot for kayaking, paddleboarding, and swimming during the warmer months. However, there have also been concerns raised about access to certain areas, such as Max Starcke Dam and other popular fishing spots. Despite this, many visitors continue to enjoy the park's open spaces and water-based activities.
Narrows Recreation Area is managed by the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA), which oversees a network of parks and recreational facilities throughout central Texas. The LCRA aims to balance environmental preservation with public access, ensuring that visitors can enjoy these natural resources while maintaining their integrity for future generations.
If you're planning a visit to Narrows Recreation Area, be sure to check the park's schedule for any ongoing improvements or temporary closures. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own water and waste bags, as some facilities may be limited. First, they closed access to Max Starcke Dam, a longtime favorite fishing spot, and now the Narrows—another popular spot for kayaking in high water and wading in low water. Is the LCRA system profit-driven, or just anti-fishing? We love both places, please open them to allow for public access!
It was relaxing and peaceful chilled while the kids went in the water with the dogs and then sat on the tailgate eating chili what a beautiful view bathroom was full of birds nest but other than that a nice little soot

Nice park for a walk along the Colorado River, Offers boating, fishing & picnicking.
This is a boat ramp parking lot, but it is not very busy and you can easily get to the water. If your looking for a quiet area on the lake, this is pretty nice.
It is so ridiculous that it took them more than a year to evaluate the access. We People should get together and ask them to reopen it!! PUBLIC TAXES SHOULD NOT GO TO PRIVATE BUSINESSES FOR PARKS>
