Natural Bridge Campground First the good: The scenery is beautiful. Big open campground surrounded by hills and smaller mountains. The cabins on the water look nice and the pond is really pretty. Stayed here for 5 nights in our camper. The place was just about at capacity, but because of our site (32) we weren't right on top of people. I highly recommend trying to get sites 32-38 if you need water and electricity. The other sites are tightly packed together. Fished in the pond and caught a few nice fish. They were definitely biting. There is a lot to do nearby with hiking, climbing and fishing. This is a good base camp for all those. Firewood is available on site for a reasonable price. If you are into snakes and reptiles, the Kentucky Reptile Zoo is within walking distance. The campground is pet friendly and I really enjoyed meeting other campers dogs. The not so good: the bathrooms and shower houses are really dated, but I've read they are going to be updating soon. There was no toilet paper in the bathrooms, but like I said, it was a busy weekend. The dump station is functional, but kind of a pain to get to depending on what side your tanks are on. If you like total quiet, go elsewhere as you hear the nearby interstate and rest area at all times. Stargazing is not good here as the lights from the nearby highway and rest stop have a lot of light pollution. The campsites are all dirt/grass and luckily there was no rain. The drive around the campground is full of potholes and ruts as well. Otherwise it would have been miserable. Overall, I would go back again, weather pending. I find it odd that no one is available in the office at times, and that there is no campground host like most parks have.
What a nice, quiet little campground. The spots are fairly level and good enough to work with. The pond seems to be stocked pretty well because kids were pulling fish out every evening. Access is pretty easy but they have a little bridge that can be a challenge if you have a long rig. Our pickup and camper is about 50' long and it was pretty tight. Also, the little bridge has an 11 ton weight limit which is 22k pounds. Our pickup and travel trailer come in at 19k lbs at the Cat scales. Better weigh before you come!! We'll certainly stay again if we come out that way.
We enjoyed our stay for Memorial Day weekend. Had a great view of the colorfully lit fountain on the lake. Campground kitty, Buddy, spent Thu night and Friday morning hanging out, sadly we didn't see his pretty face again over the weekend. [Imagined he was home for the weekend] Pitfall to a class A, we weren't really able to venture out for the beauty, the hiking, Rock jumping, events like the ice cream social. Maybe an area wide shuttle bus would be nice; as GPS equated the 6 minute drive to The Natural Bridge to an hour and a half walk. On roadways that didn't feel they were meant for walking. That said? I needed the relaxation that was in abundance for us this trip. Definitely will return!
Very friendly and accommodating staff. We were booked to a nearby RV park, but we couldn't make the drop into the entrance with Class A pulling a trailer. We canceled that reservation and found this gem Same-Day. Site was very beautiful, clean, yard workers there when we were leaving. Fish pond great for kids and a nearby creek. Offer 30/ 50 amp, water, Picnic table in fire ring. Fire wood sales there as well. Only 10 minutes either way from Natural bridge or Nada Tunnel. Rest stop around the corner to stage/connect or unconnect trailers if needed.
RV campsite was just fine, and the location was close to things. Bathroom and shower quality would prevent me from booking again.
