For Idahoans who truly value solitude and an unadulterated connection with nature, Navigation Campground on Priest Lake offers an extraordinary escape. This remarkably quiet and secluded campsite is not for the faint of heart, as it primarily caters to those willing to arrive by boat or undertake a significant hike. The reward for this effort, however, is access to a truly beautiful and often deserted stretch of the Priest Lake area, a pristine jewel nestled within the Idaho Panhandle National Forests. Unlike bustling, amenity-rich campgrounds, Navigation Campground embraces its primitive nature, providing a raw and authentic outdoor experience that is increasingly rare to find.
Navigation Campground is revered by its visitors for its profound sense of peace and natural beauty. The absence of crowds, largely due to its boat-in or hike-in accessibility, ensures a tranquil environment where the sounds of the wilderness prevail. It's a place where you can truly disconnect from the digital world and immerse yourself in fishing, hiking, and simply enjoying the majestic surroundings of Priest Lake. Despite its remote feel, it’s highly regarded for its excellent opportunities for both fishing and hiking, making it a perfect base for those who love to explore. Visitors are encouraged to come prepared, remembering essentials like their own firewood, to fully embrace the secluded charm of this remarkable Idaho campground.
Navigation Campground is located near Coolin, ID 83821, USA. This places it deep within the Idaho Panhandle National Forests, in the northern part of the state. Specifically, the campground is situated on the eastern side of Priest Lake, closer to the thoroughfare that connects Lower Priest Lake to the pristine Upper Priest Lake.
Accessibility to Navigation Campground is a defining feature that contributes to its secluded nature. It is primarily a boat-in or hike-in campground, meaning direct vehicle access is not available.
Given its remote nature, there is no direct road leading to the campsites. This intentional design maintains its quiet, unspoiled environment. Visitors should plan their route carefully, accounting for the type of access (boat or hike) and ensuring they have all necessary supplies. While there may be small towns like Coolin nearby for supplies before embarking, the campground itself is truly off the beaten path, offering a genuine wilderness experience for those willing to make the journey.
Navigation Campground offers fundamental, primitive camping services, focusing on providing essential amenities while preserving the natural environment. It's important for visitors to be self-sufficient and prepared for a rustic experience.
