Awesome campground that is fairly accessible by any vehicle. Tucked away in the valley, this campground is free to the public and has restrooms, pre-built campfire pits, grills, picnic tables and decent spots for setting up a tent. There is no electrical, water, or spots for RVs. This is more for traditional camping. If this primitive camping style doesn't suit you, you can keep going up the road to the campsite at the peak which offers a bit more.
Road up is dirt, but cars make it easily, just watch for divots and rocks. Take it slow, it throws lots of dust in the air, and is rather discourteous to others. Burn pits, pit toilet, no water, but a stream just off the trail. Very quiet, stayed here full 14 days only saw three other campers over memorial day weekend. Cell has 2 bars and a little spotty, but this was also around the time of the CMEs hitting our magnetosphere. I like this place.
Gorgeous views on the dirt road leading to the site that is accessible by all vehicles. Fall colors and wildlife are stunning, the site is clean, and plenty of healthy dead fall for campfires. Underused, easy to find an open spot. 4 miles up the road are incredible views and 2 trails. Perfect for a weekend getaway.
Used to be great, but now it's all burned out from the fires.
