Nice campground, very peaceful this time of year. Some good hiking trails with wonderful fall views. I was a little disappointed to find burnt and unburnt trash in my campsites fire pit when I arrived, always people like this ruining good things for the rest of us.
The state park has nice camping areas and a really nice playground and picnic area. They also have several really scenic trails. The only downside is that most restrooms ate pit latrines. Though they are clean. It is still a pit latrines. The park itself is beautiful, but could use a camp store.
Approachable camping experience, great for beginners. Decent site availability, close to town for grocery runs, and practically no wildlife hazard (racoons). Even in lightning storms, we felt very safe. Bathrooms are pit toilets. Clean water is nearby. You WILL see your neighbor sites through the trees and foliage. Walking paths are well marked, and well kept, and varied enough that they are a great stroll. Excellent for beginners or beer camping, not challenging enough for seasoned outdoors people.
Nice State Park with an interesting history and wide, well-maintained paths. We hiked most of the Havenridge path then cut through the campground back to the parking lot. Took about 1.5 hrs. Some elevation changes but nothing difficult. Be aware there are parts with poison ivy near the path but if you stick to the middle you'll be fine.
Great place for young and young at heart. Friendly staff and quiet respectable camp area for tent or rv except no power and no generators to keep it quiet for the outdoor experience. BIG PLAYGROUND FOR TODDLER AND UP!! AT least enjoy that daily! Hats off! This spot is nice for price! And top secret!!! Spot #2 ROCKS!!!!!
