Newell Bay Campground Introduce
Newell Bay Campground is a hidden gem nestled in the serene landscape of Sunrise, Wyoming. This charming campground offers a unique opportunity to connect with nature, providing visitors with a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Perfectly situated near Newell Bay, it serves as an ideal base for outdoor enthusiasts exploring the region's natural wonders.
Surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, Newell Bay Campground is part of a tranquil environment that captivates nature lovers. The area boasts diverse wildlife, rolling hills, and scenic vistas, making it a haven for hikers, bird watchers, and photographers. This peaceful setting is just a short drive from other natural attractions in the region.
While staying at Newell Bay Campground, visitors have access to basic yet essential amenities. Each campsite comes equipped with fire pits, picnic tables, and grills, allowing guests to prepare meals under the open sky. The campground provides vault toilets for hygienic needs and water spigots for drinking and cooking purposes. Trash bins are conveniently placed throughout the area to help maintain the natural surroundings.
One of the standout features of Newell Bay Campground is its seclusion, offering only three camping spots that cater to tents and RVs. These sites vary in location and amenities, with options near the road, a downhill spot with water access, and another secluded area also with water nearby. The intimate setting ensures privacy and allows visitors to fully immerse themselves in nature.
Newell Bay Campground is particularly appealing for those seeking an off-the-beaten-path experience without compromising on comfort. It's ideal for quick getaways or a rest stop while traveling through Wyoming, especially for those who appreciate the beauty of rural landscapes.
However, visitors should be aware of potential challenges. Mosquitoes can be abundant during certain times, particularly in mid-June when one group encountered them in large numbers. Additionally, the campground's proximity to train tracks means periodic disturbances from passing trains, which may affect those sensitive to noise or seeking complete tranquility.
Customer feedback reflects a mix of experiences. Many praise the serene views and secluded atmosphere, ideal for disconnecting from urban life. Others found the amenities limited and were disappointed by the presence of bugs and train disruptions, suggesting it's best suited for those passing through rather than as a primary camping destination.
In summary, Newell Bay Campground offers a unique blend of natural beauty and seclusion, making it a compelling choice for those looking to explore Wyoming's outdoors. While it may not be perfect for everyone due to its rustic nature and challenges, it remains a charming option for nature enthusiasts seeking an authentic camping experience.

Customer Reviews
Beautiful views, and secluded. That about sums up the positives of this "campground". When you reach it, you quickly realize that it is actually only 3 camping spots. One by the road and vault toilets, one a quick drive in downhill with water access, and another that is a short drive away with probably water access as well. We came here in mid June at about 8pm and were accosted by a hellacious amount of bugs. Especially mosquitoes. Then we noticed a train passes by right in front of our spot. Then it passed again 30 minutes later. Then again 30 minutes later. Uh, oh. We see a pattern. The train shakes the ground and scared the heck out of one of my pups. š Anywho. Not really worth it (especially for $32.16, really $0.16?!), unless you are just passing through. Even then, I'd suggest you just arrive late while its cool and the bugs are done feeding on people!
