I stayed at a tent site, the site was well maintained and made set up clean and easy. The little Pavillion was nice to have. Staff was friendly and accommodating. There was highway noise, but most Journey campgrounds are located near highways, so that wasn't unexpected. The main lodge was closed for remodeling. It was a bit of a hike to the bathrooms, only 2. Unisex. No mirror. They were basic and adequate. Beautiful pool. I felt quite safe there. Hoping you weren't affected by the flooding from Helene.
My husband and I have truly enjoyed our stay here over Labor Day weekend. We were coming in very late at night and were expecting something very bare and empty but instead it was a brand new cabin with both a bed and couch, a cute little table for cards and a fridge and microwave! If you’re looking for a nice cabin experience, I’d definitely recommend!
We stayed here a week due to a change in our plans with my husband needing to return home quickly on a flight out of Knoxville to secure our home before Hurricane Beryl hit. My daughter and I stayed behind until he returned and we could progress on our trip. The negative reviews are very unfair. Yes, it’s an older campground but it’s under new management and they are working to improve it. They were replacing all the picnic tables with brand new nice tables and working on more. The place was clean and everyone was friendly. The pool was well maintained. Playground was old and some of the sites need to be leveled a little more but they are working on it. For all those complaining about the interstate noise….. it’s a KOA Journey and all the KOA Journeys I have been to are right off the freeways placed there for quick one night stops. That’s expected and makes it easy for people passing through. To be honest the noise was not bad here and hardly heard it in the RV. We had a great time exploring around the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Dollywood, Big Creek rafting and much more. Not too far of a drive to everything. So give them a chance!
We really enjoyed our time here. Great staff nice site nice pool. No it's not your resort but if you just need a good weekend stay this is perfect. Our dogs were welcome and everyone was friendly. They are renovating and they are making nicer. It is under new ownership. Give them a chance. .
Beautiful wooded spots and team striving to provide great service - personal attention made a difference. We have a class C motorhome with all services so facility improvements in process didn’t impact us. Full service spot and was perfect & filled up on propane. Overall great and coming back on return trip. I’m sure every visit will be better & better !!
