Newport / Little Diamond Lake KOA Holiday Introduce
For Washington locals seeking a versatile and amenity-rich camping experience, the Newport / Little Diamond Lake KOA Holiday offers a compelling choice. Situated in the charming town of Newport, this unique resort combines the trusted quality of a KOA Holiday with the extensive offerings of a Thousand Trails property, providing a wide array of options for RVers, tent campers, and cabin enthusiasts alike. Whether your idea of a perfect getaway involves lakeside relaxation, active recreation, or simply a peaceful retreat amidst towering trees, this campground is designed to cater to diverse preferences, making it a popular destination in Eastern Washington.
Newport / Little Diamond Lake KOA Holiday is more than just a place to park your RV; it's a vibrant resort with its own small, no-motor lake perfect for fishing and paddle boating, a refreshing swimming pool, and a large lodge building for indoor activities. While it’s recognized that the property is a mix of management styles, with resources seemingly more focused on the KOA sections, the shared common areas are generally well-maintained and offer a pleasant experience for all guests. The resort actively promotes outdoor enjoyment with various bike and walking trails, a Frisbee course, horseshoes, a basketball court, and a playground. This blend of structured activities and natural beauty makes it an ideal spot for families, groups, and anyone looking for a dynamic camping vacation with a touch of comfort and convenience in the heart of Eastern Washington.
Newport / Little Diamond Lake KOA Holiday is conveniently located at 1002 McGowen Rd, Newport, WA 99156, USA. This places the campground just outside the charming town of Newport, Washington, a community situated on the Pend Oreille River, near the border with Idaho. The location offers easy access to both rural tranquility and the convenience of local amenities.
Accessibility to the campground is generally straightforward. Newport is served by US Highway 2, a major east-west route that connects Spokane to the west and continues into Idaho to the east. This makes the KOA easily reachable for those traveling from Spokane, the Tri-Cities, and other parts of Eastern Washington, as well as from Northern Idaho. While some internal roads within the Thousand Trails section may be noted as narrow with untrimmed trees, the main access to the KOA Holiday section and shared common areas is typically well-maintained. Public transportation options directly to the campground are limited given its semi-rural setting, so visitors will primarily rely on personal vehicles or RVs. The location is also within reasonable distance of various lakes and rivers, providing campers with access to a broader range of water sports beyond the campground's immediate offerings. This combination of convenient road access and proximity to regional attractions makes Newport / Little Diamond Lake KOA Holiday a practical and desirable destination for campers.
Newport / Little Diamond Lake KOA Holiday offers a comprehensive array of services and amenities, designed to cater to various camping styles and preferences, from RVers to tent campers and those seeking cabins.
- RV Sites: The campground provides numerous RV sites, offering power and water connections. It's noted that while power (30 or 50 amps) and water are available, individual sewer hookups are generally not present at sites. Campers may need to verify specific site amenities upon booking.
- Tent Sites: Designated areas are available for traditional tent camping, allowing for a more rustic experience.
- Cabin Rentals: In addition to RV and tent sites, the resort offers cabin rentals, providing a comfortable lodging option with more amenities than a typical campsite.
- Private Lake: The campground features its own small lake, perfect for fishing and renting paddle boats. Importantly, no motors are allowed on this lake, ensuring a peaceful environment.
- Swimming Pool: A refreshing swimming pool is available, located conveniently next to the lake, providing a great way to cool off during warmer months.
- Lodge Building: A large lodge building serves as a hub for indoor activities, offering a communal space for guests.

- Cell Service: Verizon and T-Mobile networks generally provide good cell service within the campground.
Newport / Little Diamond Lake KOA Holiday is distinguished by several key features and highlights that enhance the camping experience for its guests:

Customer Reviews
This campground and Rv resort is located within a reasonable distance from lake and river access for water sports. It also has its own small lake for fishing and renting paddle boats! No motors allowed! Next to the lake, you will find a small swimming pool and a large lodge building for indoor activities! Nice small store with the basics on site! This property is a mix of KOA and Thousand Trails sites. It is obvious that management has put the resources into the KOA sections and not so much into the other areas. However, if you like forested camping, you will enjoy the whole resort. Bike and walking trails are found in various areas around the campground which also sports a Frisbee course, horseshoes, basketball court, and playground! Power and water, but no sewers!
This is one of those campgrounds that are difficult to describe. It is a TT and KOA combo and you can definitely see a big difference between campsites. Lucky common areas are shared and kept in decent shape. The road leading to the TT area is narrow and trees are not trimmed. The map is not accurate, most of the roads are closed and new passages are created. Most of the spots are small and hard to figure out from what direction you should approach. The pedestal with electric connection is usually shared between two sides not marked if it's 50 or 30 amps... You need to get out and see what you are dealing with. There is a post on the TT website about no laundry but surprise surprise there is no sewer service for any of the sites. Once you make it to the spot and park the place is peaceful and quiet, you can enjoy the nature, pool or small lake. The dog park is nice. Bathroom and shower facilities are not bad but do not provide a lot of privacy. There are only 2 dump stations for more than 100 spots so that's an additional challenge with no sewer connection. Verizon and T mobile worked well in our spot.
I recently spent some time at Little Diamond after an exhausting journey of over 1,500 miles, and while the campground itself is nice, it was the exceptional staff that truly made my stay memorable. After three long days on the road, I arrived feeling both tired and a bit stressed. To make matters more challenging, I realized there was an error with my reservation. Thankfully, Debbie was there to save the day! Her kindness and efficiency took a huge weight off my shoulders. She not only corrected my reservation but also lifted my spirits during a stressful moment. Her customer service went above and beyond, and I genuinely appreciate all her help. I’d also like to mention Nicole, who was equally helpful and friendly during my stay. It’s clear that the staff at Little Diamond are committed to providing excellent service and ensuring that guests feel welcome and supported. Overall, I highly recommend Little Diamond not just for its facilities but for the wonderful team who makes staying here a great experience. Thank you, Debbie and Nicole, for your outstanding support!
This is a cute campground. The sites are huge, and everything was super clean. I was impressed with how well it was maintained. It is a bit off the beaten path, but we liked it.
Spent 10 days here at the end of May, and while the park itself is nice and peaceful and relatively well maintained, WiFi is nonexistent at the campsites and having to pay $10 for someone to come visit you seems a little extreme. We stayed here to be close to relatives and were informed the first time they came to visit us it would be $10 for them to enter the property…I guess I could understand if they were going to use the pool, or some of the amenities but they were only there to have dinner with us at our trailer. Never had anything like this at any other rv park.
