Our favorite spot to camp out for a day at the river. A hidden gem in our books. Arrive early because space is limited and there is a charge per person to enter - but worth it. This is also the starting place for alot of kayaking and canoeing down the river.
Moved out to Texas from Idaho and we got lots of creeks and streams and rivers. And I found Nichols Landing while riding my motorcycle and it's one of the most beautiful places I've found in Texas
This place had a lot of cool butterflies and a decent area to swim.
Visited on July 3rd and it was not crowded plenty of parking available. We went back July 4th and we weren’t really allowed to stay.. all because our vehicle was too big and it didn’t fit in one of their parking spots.. We understand when something is at full capacity, but there were 2 cars parked in a non parking spot and we politely asked if we could do the same.. (mind you we are paying, this was not a free entrance) the lady there that day didn’t say anything… automatically handed us our money back with a smirk on her face.. We were staying at an airbnb like 5min away and even asked the address like if we were lying… We’ve never been treated so poorly at a public location before.. My recommendation is don’t go if you have any bigger than a compact car or I guess if you do you’ll get lucky and get let in.
DO NOT GO IF YOUR SWIMMING WATER WAS LOW. Other than that the hike was nice
Beautiful
