Nine Eagles State Park Introduce
Nine Eagles State Park is a hidden gem located at 23678 Dale Miller Rd, Davis City, IA 50065. This picturesque park offers a variety of amenities for visitors, including both electric and non-electric campgrounds, hiking trails, and equestrian camping options. The park's open hours are consistent throughout the week, from Monday to Sunday, with gates open from 4:00 AM to 10:30 PM.
Whether you're visiting for a weekend getaway or just a day trip, Nine Eagles State Park provides something for everyone. The non-electric campground is particularly popular among visitors seeking a more secluded and natural camping experience. Nestled in the forest with plenty of shade, this area offers a serene environment complete with a well-maintained bathhouse.
For those who prefer more modern amenities, the electric campground provides necessary facilities but can feel cramped due to close site spacing and lack of tree cover. The park also caters to equestrian visitors with designated camping areas that include hitching posts and other horseback riding-friendly features, though these sites lack electricity.
When it comes to outdoor activities, Nine Eagles State Park doesn't disappoint. The well-maintained hiking trails are perfect for both casual and experienced hikers, with one trail stretching about 4 miles in length. The park also boasts a lake and small beach area that look nicely maintained, making them ideal spots for picnics or simply enjoying nature.
Customer feedback highlights the park's beauty and well-cared-for appearance, with many praising the trails and facilities. One visitor noted that while the non-electric campground was a standout, the electric sites fell short in terms of spacing and amenities. Another hiker appreciated the ease of trail navigation and the diverse outdoor activities available.
Overall, Nine Eagles State Park is an excellent destination for nature enthusiasts looking to explore Iowa's scenic beauty. Whether you're camping under the stars or just enjoying a day outdoors, this park offers a variety of experiences that cater to all types of visitors.

Camped here a nice weekend in November. It is a beautiful park to drive thru. Has a few easy trails. The non electric campground is beautiful and feels like it's nestled in the forest, lots of shade and a nice bathhouse. The electric campground is terrible. The sites are cramped and close together and no trees whatsoever in the camp area. Also has equestrian camping (no electricity) which is nice but no modern restrooms.
My visit was to hike the trails for the day. Park looked well cared for. The trails were well maintained and easy to follow. I passed by the lake and small beach, both looked nice. Hike was about 4 miles, wore out my hiking buddy. Several picnic areas and camping areas. Looks like a great place for horseback riding with hitching posts etc.
We have camped here over the years. Spring is the best time to hike the trails, because of the ticks and poison ivy. We enjoy kayaking, watching the sunset and star gazing.
Not a lot of traffic in the winter, so the roads weren't plowed/campsite isn't kept up but Nine Eagle's is still awesome to go. The trails were untouched and peaceful, I hiked because there wasn't a lot of snow but you could snowshoe if there was more snow. The pit toilets are open - just do your due diligence to clean up after yourself 🙂
Hidden Gem with a great beach and a modern cabin that is spectacular, views for days!
