Customer Reviews
Great camp site, clean bathroom and good water with a handpump. Some of the sites are right next to the river. Nice, quiet campground. No camphost when I visited, but the host from the other campground kept the bathrooms cleaned and stocked. I've been here 3 times at various times of the year and there is always a spot. If on the off chance it is filled, there is boondocking sites just up the road till something opens up. Lots of hiking and biking from the campground. While I don't fish, a couple of anglers did work the stream so Im assuming it has trout. Spoted a bull elk last fall..lots of wildlife
Easy access with RV or trailer. Small climb to entrance. Quiet. Few people even on weekends. Great place for quarantine. Great Mt. bike rides on forest roads. One goes 12,707 V to Bristol Head Peak. We biked over 100 miles and 10,000 V all leaving from Camp. No need to drive truck. We are coming back soon! Lots of hummingbirds. Made a feeder from plastic shot glass. A moose came into camp. Awesome! Very dry from drought. Clean bathrooms. Water available.
This is the place to go for quiet time. There are clean vault toilets too. Water is available at a community area.
We have stayed here for years and love it. Just a comment about the rude camp hosts. Perhaps the writer does not know that the camp host is personally responsible for the full cost of trash removal. Those trash barrels, like at many other places, are for the use of paying campers. Another note--since this is a National Forest Campground, if you have the National Parks Senior Pass, the cost is half the posted price. If you don't have one, GET ONE!!
Wonderful place to camp in Rio Grande National Park. Gorgeous views, tons of trails nearby, and great fishing. Because it is fairly remote, there is not a lot of fellow campers which has the dual benefits of offering privacy and availability (there were plenty of sites open despite us showing up the evening of July 4th). We intend to stay here for many more trips.
