Big group of friends did dispersed camping right before the campsites by turning left on county road 330. Site had space for multiple tents. Road was rocky but don’t need super high clearance AWD recommended. Great if you don’t care for a bathroom but access nearby and would rather have more space and privacy. 20 min drive to the Medicine bow peak trail!

There were plenty of open sites. The grounds were filled with wildflowers and chipmunks. The bathrooms were clean, but don't forget to bring your own toilet paper just in case. I could hear the Little Laramie River nearby. The grounds were easily accessible with my Chevy Malibu. Folks at the nearby visitor center were very helpful, and there are great mountain and alpine lake views nearby.

Atop the medicine bow mountain, you will find many campgrounds. Some big some small, they all have their pros and cons. The time we spent in the north fork campground was some of my favorite. We were treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding range, as well as the north for the creek that ran right behind our site. It's worth the 10 dollar fee. (Wich is paid with cash or check.) Friendly and knowledgeable staff , just please don't put Rick's in the fire pits, haha. #wheresValka

I've been going to this campground for roughly 40 years. Thanks to the beatle kill the trees are sparse but beyond that the overall grounds have gone downhill. Full outhouses, overflowing dumpsters and burned logs thrown everywhere. The recent increase to $20/night should have brought more care but it didn't. While looking for a site for the night it appeared that many were already reserved. After parking and setting up, I walked my dog down the road and found that while many were reserved for the weekend I was there, even more had dates back to early June (this was mid August). This tells me no one has checked the grounds for at least a month! I'm sad to give such a low review for a place I have such fond memories of but apparently all great things come to an end. The spaces are large and well separated. Thankfully for the most part other campers are respectful and clean up after themselves. There was a few things left in my site by former campers but they appeared to be oversights, not laziness. The hummingbirds were plentiful! It is a very beautiful campground, just wish the forest service would actually pay attention to it.
