We recently visited the campground for the second time and while we love the site itself, our experience with the staff was disappointing. The rules are overly strict; for instance, we were required to keep our cooler inside the car at all times. Although we understand the need for rules and quiet hours from 10 pm to 7 am, the staff seemed to have issues with even the slightest noise or activity during the day. They don’t allow music or any significant noise, which felt excessively controlling. If you are planning to visit this campground, be aware that it's not suited for large groups or those who enjoy a lively atmosphere. It seems to be designed for people who prefer absolute silence, to the point where it feels like you need to keep your mouth closed with tape. This approach can be frustrating if you want to enjoy time with family and friends without constantly worrying about warnings or being asked to leave. If you’re looking for a quiet retreat, you might be better off staying home. The staff, particularly the lady in charge, seemed consistently cranky and unapproachable. Even other staff members seemed hesitant to speak negatively about her. We go camping to escape the rigidity of corporate and city life, and it was disheartening to feel so controlled. Aside from these issues, everything else about the campground is great. However, if a quiet environment is what you seek, you might want to reconsider camping here.

This place was hands down one of the greatest camp experiences I have ever had! Lovely sites. Very clean. Friendly staff. The bathrooms were clean. I would go back in a heartbeat. Get a lakeside site if possible. Bonus…sweet waterfall hike right next to the campground. I had site 147 and it was epic btw.

Just here adding another experience where we showed up after 9 pm for a camping reservation made months in advance and were turned away (we drove 4 hours from Philadelphia). We had to get a hotel room and pay 200 dollars for the night and the women at the entrance booth were super unclear about what had happened to our campsite and why we couldn’t stay there. Was it given away to a walk in? Did someone else stay there? Would we be able to get it back? As it turns out - we went back in the morning, our site was completely vacant and we checked in/set up completely normally, they just don’t allow people to check in after 9 because it’s disruptive to quiet hours. Meanwhile quiet hours don’t start until 10 pm and pitching a tent is not disruptive. Give me a break. This is the only campsite I’ve ever stayed at where I’ve had this issue and we camp everywhere. Bureaucracy for the sake of bureaucracy.

Had a great time camping overnight in late October, one of the last days you could book a campground. There were actually a lot of people in and around the campgrounds, and the nearby Kaaterskill Falls was awesome. When you book the camp spot make sure you read through the rules, there quiet hours after 10pm, max of 2 vehicles per camping spot, among other small restrictions. I think each spot has its own fire pit where you can cook or just warm up. It’s important to bring the right gear for overnight stays, especially in the colder months. Didn’t see any bears but I think one of our neighbors’ dogs paid us a visit throughout the night, kept hearing a sniff right by my tent haha. We were campsite 5 in loop 1. Getting there at night is a bit confusing but you just have to follow the signs or ask the park rangers.

Lovely campgrounds! You are given everything you could need: a fire pit, a table, ample space, and bathrooms everywhere! We loved our time here and we will definitely come again. Just note that the campground doesn’t sell firewood, but there are many places to get it on the road leading up to the campsite! Beautiful lake in the camp and Kaaterskill Waterfall is 4 minutes away by car! Signs are easy to follow to get to your camp and get around. Can’t wait to come back and we are going to book earlier this time because it does seem to fill up on Saturdays!

Love this place. We visited twice last fall and recently in late spring. Both seasons have their own charms. We hiked both Kaaterskill Falls trails and North Point trails, both were beautiful and fun to hike. The campground’s facilities are amazingly. They were very clean and plenty, never had to wait to use restrooms or wash station. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. This will be our traditional campground until we leave the country

We loved this campground -we were in loop 7 and all of the sites were wooded, secluded, and large. Each site has a nice campfire to cook over . 10/10 would stay again. Only issue was lots of bugs but that's nature!

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Although this is one of our FAVORITE camping spots, that we have been coming to for years in a great location, today we had an experience that truly put such a bad taste in our mouth I’m not sure we’ll ever be returning. The staff at this campsite was ATROCIOUSLY rude. Our 4 hour road trip turned into a 6 hour trip because of traffic getting us to the campground an hour after “check in time” ended. Which we thought meant we go to site, check in next morning let them know we’re there, like ANY OTHER NORMAL CAMPGROUND. However this was NOT the case. We were turned around at the gate!!!!! Sent to sleep on the SIDE OF THE ROAD with our 26ft travel trailer and told we would not even be refunded for the night we paid for, and that we could come back and check. In and go to our site at 8:30am. They forced us to sleep on the side of the road rather than go to the campsite that we BOOKED AND PAID FOR WEEKS AGO. This is UNSAFE and UNACCEPTABLE. The staff not only denied us but as we cried literal tears to them worried about where we would sleep after driving all this way they LAUGHED in our faces and acted like this was no big deal. I can’t even believe that people working for the state park services would act this way to campers when they KNOW places like this are our sanctuary. If you ever plan on being even a few minutes late to check in, DONT CAMP HERE, unless you’d like to be laughed at by incredibly rude staff and sleep on the side of the road while your PAID FOR campsite remains empty all night long with no refund. Disgusted and disappointed is an understatement.

Site is amazing been coming here since first grade now an adult the staff ruined the entire experience for me. SO incredibly disappointed in the staff and how they treated us at the front they are overly strict and MEAN about it. Even though we called ahead and let them know what happened and that we would only be late by minutes, They turned us away to sleep on the streets for barely being late for our reservation no empathy they were horrible about it. I was disgusted by the attitude of these people who are supposed to be greeting you for a fun weekend in nature. They offered no refund for the spot we have tonight that is open and unused now and was already paid for!!!!!! There is an old lady with bleach blonde hair at the desk that has an attitude like you’ve never seen and will speak to you like you mean nothing! These people do not care about their guests and we’re beyond unreasonable not even the slightest bit helpful, laughed in our face for crying scared about where we would sleep this night after driving 9 hours DO NOT RECOMMEND INTERACTING WITH ANY STAFF any other park will welcome you and treat you with kindness. This is all about how you treat people THE STAFF RUINED WHAT USED TO BE MY FAVORITE PLACE AND FAVORITE PARK beyond disappointment
