Father’s Day Camping Trip Cut Short by Rude Staff and Inconsistent Rules As a divorced dad spending Father’s Day weekend with my two young boys, I was hoping for a relaxing and memorable camping trip. Unfortunately, our experience at this campground was ruined by hostile staff, inconsistent rule enforcement, and a total lack of common sense. We arrived with my street-legal, state-plated Polaris RZR loaded on a trailer — not driven in — and hadn’t even set up our site before being approached by the campground director. He immediately told me I wasn’t allowed to have the RZR in the campground and insisted I park it a mile away at the boat launch, despite it being registered and treated just like any other legal vehicle under state law. I calmly explained this, but he was completely unwilling to listen or consider any logic. The next day, after using the RZR to meet friends and go fishing, I returned and explained the situation to a very kind and understanding woman at the front gate, who agreed it was reasonable to let me drive back to the site — especially since the RZR was loaded with valuable gear, tools, fishing equipment, and a large bag of ice. I was driving slowly, respectfully, and bothering no one. Then, midway through the campground, another staff member ran out yelling and completely overreacted in front of my kids, demanding that we pack up and leave. I managed to de-escalate things, but was still forced to move the RZR back to the distant parking lot. Meanwhile, plenty of campers were blasting music, singing karaoke at full volume, and ripping through the grounds on loud Harleys and diesel trucks — none of which seemed to bother staff in the slightest. I even asked about plated dirt bikes and was told they weren’t allowed either. The staff’s behavior was not only overbearing and inconsistent, it bordered on harassment. What should’ve been a special trip for me and my boys turned into a weekend of being targeted, hassled, and made to feel completely unwelcome. We were so fed up, we ended up cutting our trip short and leaving early — something no parent should have to do on Father’s Day. Unless this campground completely revamps its policies and staff training, I would strongly advise others — especially families — to look elsewhere.
Amazing campground! Has very clean restrooms with stalls along with hot showers that have great water pressure (just takes a bit to warm up as expected). Haven't seen anyone else in the restrooms either so it's very quiet and private! It was super easy to check in, especially in comparison to past experiences at other campgrounds, stress free and simple. Booking online was also very easy, just do it in advance if you're staying in the summer because I've heard they get pretty full during the warmer months. We had no issues because we camped here in early may so there was lots of availability. Some campgrounds don't allow older campers, but they had no problem with our 1977 silverbullet trailer, so that was nice! Only problem we had was hooking it up to the electricity because our adaptor plug didn't fit in any of the outlets they had, but the camp hosts were so sweet and let us lend one of theirs for free! They were soso helpful and made our experience super easy. People follow the noise curfew VERY well, the second it turned 11 it was dead silent and very peaceful, only thing we could hear was the water because we got a pull through site by the lake which we loved. The lake was absolutely beautiful and clean, they also let us fish off the docks and boat launch because there weren't a lot of people there at all so nobody was using them, we even caught a big bass fish after a little bit! There are also spots to swim, just no lifeguards so if you have kids be mindful. They also have kayak and paddleboat rentals here if that's your thing, so lots to do here especially when it's warmer I'm sure. Also a nice big trail you can enter from the campground. They have laundry here along with an arcade and a pizzeria that we sadly couldn't try since it's only open thursdays, saturdays, and sundays, but the menu looked great with good prices! $14 for a large pizza isn't bad at all. It's such a big, clean, and cozy campground, each site is usually around $50 a night depending on which one you get so not tooo bad. Definitely worth the price though because it's so nice! We will definitely be coming back in the summer.
Some sites are a bit small but otherwise a great campground. The facilities are well maintained. The showers are impeccable.
I have stayed in the cabins and I have RV camped I love this campground . Cabins are no thrills but they are comfy. RV sites are all great, prices are a bit high it's a great campground nice store and they have pizza here yummy .
I love it here. Beautiful sites for RV and tent, fishing walking trails so beautiful.
