Northland Outfitters Campground & Canoe / Kayak Livery

My mother, 6yr old son and myself stayed recently for the weekend here in Cabin 5 and we are sure to be back again! If I don’t bullet point the great things about this place I’ll end up writing an essay. -Super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff. One of the gentlemen even offered to drive firewood up to our cabin. -Peaceful, quaint and clean. The campground its self is located on a river and also has a pond. It’s not very big but to us it was perfect. Quiet (I’m sure we were the loudest ones there unintentionally) and also has a space for lawn games they provide which also happened to be right outside our cabin. The bathhouses are seen being cleaning many times throughout the day and they were so much cleaner than what I’ve experienced at other campgrounds and also hotels. -Kayak, tubing, and canoe rentals directly from them with the campground being the end landing -Not far from other Upper Peninsula activities to experience (even if you’ve already done them before, ahem rock hunting 😉) -And of course, Benny the Beard Troll! What a delight to see and experience. Non-campers can walk down to see Benny just a short distance for $10 per carload. That being said visitors who were not camping were super respectful of the campers/campground just as the campers were. Everyone was so respectful about letting each other take pictures of or with the troll and being mindful. Long story short I highly recommend this as a place to stay!

We had absolutely the best time staying here! We had driven up a few times to see Benny and decided that we wanted to stay because the campground is so nice. We stayed at site #9 with our camper. Super convenient to the newly remodeled bathhouse and because it was the end camping spot, we didn’t feel cramped. Easily arranged a kayak trip and appreciated the very clear direction and heads-up on things we might encounter on our trip. The staff are all so friendly and helpful and we cannot wait to go back!

We had the best time celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary at Northland Outfitters. The Thomas Dambo troll, Benny the beardfisher, drew us here but the campgrounds themselves are immaculate. The riverfront cabin was extremely cozy and well appointed, and the bathhouses were the best we have ever come across at a campground. We will certainly be returning and hope to kayak next time! The best cabins ever. Old country style, but clean and equipped with fridge, microwave, air conditioning, heater and TV. Each cabin has outdoor seating, a grill and a fire place. It was an unforgettable experience and we will definitely come back.

We visited the Troll and we were very impressed with the campground. It's very clean, has kayaks, and a world famous troll. They even had a garage with a huge screen that projected the college football games. The staff were very nice and informative. I wish we'd have brought a camper.

we absolutely loved our stay at Northland Outfitters. We were on a road trip and stayed in one of the campsites with our tent. we arrived a little later than the store hours, but they were accommodating and the campground was so quiet and genuinely lovely. cleanest bathrooms, and campsites we've seen on our trip and the owners and crew were so friendly! A bonus is Benny the Beardfisher, but it is not the only amazing thing here. We look forward to coming back and taking advantage of the river trips, etc on our next trip. Couldn't recommend it enough!

We did not camp here, but rented kayaks for the 2.5 hour 10 Curve trip. We had called ahead as the website suggested and asked about doing that particular trip that afternoon. The woman I talked with said they would like to have all of the kayakers back in by 5, but that there should be time for us to do it after I told her that we were leaving from Marquette. We got there right on the edge of window in which to rent, and so when I walked in I asked if it was still ok to do that particular trip, and the lady was so gracious and said that we had driven all of this way and they wouldn’t turn us away. They outfitted us , explained the course and took us to the start. We had an amazing afternoon on the Manistique River- it was quiet, peaceful and a beautiful day to be on the water. I’m sorry I didn’t catch any of the employees’ names, but the three people we interacted with were kind and helpful! Seeing Benny the Beard Fisher was a bonus!
