A quiet and family oriented campground settled in the woods where you can hear the owls and crickets at night. Nice park and facilities with hot showers and clean restrooms) showers. Good camp store with supplies and a nice selection of gifts. Spacious suites with picnic tables, fire pit and shade. Everyone I met was super friendly and helpful and I felt like I was at home. They had an awesome potluck lunch on Sunday and there are video games, a claw machine for the kids and pool tables. They also have a playground, basketball court and swimming pool.
My wife and I enjoyed our stay here overall. PROS- The amenities were nice, the camping pad was sandy and flat, and the camp location wasn’t polluted with driving sounds. We also had electric hookups, water pump, pool access, and a bath house close to our site. CONS- The spots are close to each other and the seasonal RV folks were quite vulgar. We were just thinking that for a family campground there should be some considerations for others who may have kids. The neighbors (who we couldn’t see but we could hear) spoke very loudly and every other word was a curse word.
Edit to my previous review...Posted my review yesterday 8/12/24 while still camping here, and am very impressed that some of our concerns such as the restrooms/showers have been cleaned and shower curtains replaced with new ones in both Men's and women's showers! We also just went for a swim in their very clean, beautiful pool! So I have high hopes that my other concerns will be addressed. Thank you Oakleaf campground for this!
Camped last week with grandchildren and had a great time inspite of the weather. Campground is small, quiet and well kept. Owner Kim was welcoming and helpful as well as Ray who works there. Will definitely be back next summer.
If seeing attractions in the area is important to you, avoid this campground, if you need supplies from the campground store is important to you, or if you simply want to pay for your stay well...Good Luck cuz the store is rarely ever open, and staff are extremely difficult to find! If a clean bathroom/shower is important to you, camp elsewhere, as my wife and myself found mold/mildew on the shower curtains in both Men's and Women's bathrooms, also very, very low water pressure, and shower stalls are tiny! Lastly, I am always careful and respect campground speed limits, here it is 5mph. Last evening people were observed driving their golf carts, and their vehicles much faster than 5mph! Today we returned, on my way to our site I hit 7mph, and someone reported me for speeding, are you kidding me, the hipocracy here is insane!!! My "STRONG ADVICE" is...Avoid this sorry excuse for a campground!!! P.S. 2 Years ago we camped at Wawaloam Campground Richmond Rhode Island and we had a great experience overall, and sooooo wish we had gone back there! If visiting Rhode Island and camping, I highly recommend Wawaloam!!!
