Cozy little oasis by the ocean. Nothing like going to sleep by a warm fire listening to the sound of the ocean. Ocean cove is really a beautiful place to land. New owner and staff were welcoming and accommodated our needs. Most of the rooms have been renovated and are quite nice. If you’re in the area and need a place to stay this is a great choice. It’s more affordable than the other lodges in the area and you still get the amenities and of course a wonderful ocean view!
I have stayed at the Ocean Cove Lodge many times and always felt at home there. The location and the ground are excellent. The ocean's presence feels everywhere, and hundreds of hummingbirds hover over the bushes. Some time ago, the place got a new owner. Most of the rooms have been renovated. They also built a very cozy outdoor patio where you can eat breakfast, drink coffee or wine, and enjoy the vast ocean view or watch unbelievable sunsets. There is a restaurant on-site, which is very convenient. I hope new owners will keep the price relatively low. The place has always been more affordable than the lodges nearby. I strongly recommend the place as a getaway spot or while driving on Highway 1.
We stayed at Ocean Cove Lodge during the MLK weekend and it was such a lovely time! Vito, the owner, was welcoming from the moment I called the lodge to when we checked out the next day. For how cold it was outside, our room was cozy and warm! After a full day of exploring the timber cove area (and yes the ocean is right there!) we were able to get a restful night’s sleep. The bed was very comfortable and the cute gas fireplace was a delight! Vito and his family are doing incredible work at the lodge as new owners, giving it a fresh look, and I can tell they are passionate about creating a wonderful guest experience. We will certainly be back and next time I’ll bring my parents as well!
Was it worth $318 for one night? Well… I understand that there are new owners and renovations are underway. The room was very nice. A lot of thought and care went into the design and it had everything. Everything was clean and comfortable. We got to sit on the deck by the road and watch the sun set, which was lovely. Courtney at the front desk was amazing and very helpful. However, and I need to say here that I think it is great the staff can live onsite, there was a trailer about 30 feet from the back of our room with a screaming toddler. The slide was closed, the swings were not up. The hot tub is really cool but still needs renovated. There was chainsaw work being done till almost 9 at night. Someone used the hose attached to the wall our headboard was on to wash their car at 7:30 in the morning. The “breakfast” was coffee and Frosted Flakes. So was it worth $318 to take my 71 year old mom from PA on what will probably be her last trip down the CA coast…..Absolutely. Would I stay here again at $318 a night that I booked 4 months in advance …..probably not.
