Customer Feedback:
- "A great place to dry camp in late September. We had a great spot next to the lake with its own picnic shelter. Only two other campers at the campgrounds. Beautiful views and nice lake for water sports."
- "Small campground and on a mountain. We had spot 32 which was far from the water and on top of the hill. Not at all a flat campground like you would imagine when looking at the maps. The spot itself was pretty unleveled as we had our two eight tires on 4 blocks and the RV still couldn't get it level on auto. The wind was blowing about 20 steady with gusts to 30 and we felt them all as there wasn’t any protection. On a calm day the views are amazing from up there."
- "Due to the announced 50mph gusts that were coming we called the office and they had no problem letting us switch to a non-reserved spot lower down the hill. Didn't charge us more and even changed it in their system. We moved to spot 14 which was wonderfully protected from the wind and much more level."
- "They did a great job with all the boat docks and access to the ramp."
Overall, Okie Beach Campground is an excellent choice for anyone seeking a peaceful and scenic camping experience in Wyoming. With its stunning mountain views, proximity to the lake, and friendly staff, this campground offers something for everyone. Accomodations at this campground are wonderful! There are multiple bathrooms close to the campground, there is a covered picnic area in most spots, and there is a grated firepit. My only complaints are 1. The camping spots are really close together and there isnt much greenery to provide any privacy. 2. There wasn't an area convenient to get in for swimming besides the dock. The rocks are slippery / sharp getting in the water.
Beautiful area, not super conducive to tent camping due to rocky terrain and severe storms. We stayed here for two nights and despite the forecast saying sunny skies we were hit with three severe thunderstorms. It might be helpful to designate certain sites as tent sites and add dirt so tent stakes can be used. Ground is too hard and rocky to hold them. Alternatively, anchors of some sort could be added. Luckily our tent survived 3 different severe thunderstorms with gale force winds but we saw at least half a dozen other tents blown away or completely destroyed. We tied out 6+ guy lines to surrounding trees but both my wife and I had to physically sit in the tent to keep it from blowing away during the storm. Used a NEMO tent for reference (eg well built tent). We frequently camp in the mountains and at high altitude but haven’t experienced storms that bad in a tent in a while. Probably would not recommend tent camping here although I think a camper trailer could be fine. We did like the docks they had. Otherwise, a beautiful place. Will return but maybe stay in a hotel or RV next time :)
Beautiful campground. Wind was pretty bad and when there wasn't wind, the mosquitos were bad. There was a fair amount of garbage around for a paid campsite but probably a symptom of the wind. Fairly busy in June but everyone was respectful and we had no problems even though the sites are all fairly tight. If you have a dog keep it out of the brush, it is nothing but foxtails.
