Definitely one of the coolest spots around Mount Hood and has been around since 1932. Diane is an amazing host and very friendly. It was a cool spot on a beautiful weekend. No fires were allowed but we had a propane ring which helped for the ambience. Able to rent a rowboat and get out on the lake but remember it's not a swimming location because it's drinking water. Make reservations and get out there I know that I got a cabin in 6 months in advance.
The kindest people in the world run the Olallie Lake Resort. They gave us butter from their own fridge when they found out I wanted butter. They searched for (and found) my daughter’s favorite stuffed animal which got left behind. I recommend this spot for the people you will meet. They will make you feel at home. There are also a few gorgeous hikes nearby with great views of Mount Jefferson and Mount Hood
This beautiful rustic village of cabins is hidden deep in the forest at a crossroads where hikers, bikers, off-roaders and weekenders meet. There are no ‘modern’ frills. This place is off grid, no plumbing bathroom is an outhouse, water is on a spigot, wood stove heated cabin and the surrounding forest was burned in one of the 2020 fires. But the scenery is still beautiful. Night skies like nothing you’ll see in town, majestic Mt Jefferson overlooking a clear water lake that you can see all the way to the large floor. It’s remarkable. No fires at all except gas stoves and the fireplace in the cabin that Diane and company will give you a load of wood for. Diane is super sweet. She was feeding fresh cut water melon to PCT hikers who come through there for a night to camp and reapply at their cash or check only ‘town store’. You can also rent rowboats or paddle boats. They have 9 unique and quaint cabins and 2 yurts.
Rented a yurt on the solstice weekend. Slept 4 adults and 3 dogs comfortably, we'll bring more people next time. Weather was perfect, the wind picks up on the lake in the pm if you prefer calmer paddling. Bugs are a factor but weren't bad with spray/sleeves, most don't bite. Interior pics attached as I didn't see any of those. Will be back, and go swimming in Head Lake, it's great!
Went here in the winter, for off-roading... Very scenic and gorgeous views.
