As an early riser, I was looking for something to do in Vegas in the morning hours, before the heat really kicks in. For that, I can really recommend a visit at the Old Mormon Fort! It is not big, so expect to spend around 1h here if you look at everything, including the introductory exhibition at the entry. There’s also a nice museum shop with postcards. Full recommendation for a (for once) quiet and relaxing time in Vegas.
We all enjoyed the Old Mormon Fort. For $3 a person too it was really cool. There's an informative video about the history of the fort and how it shaped Las Vegas. There isn't much to see, but still a cool place to visit. The creek inside is artificial but filled with fish, as the old creek was dammed up (see the video). Was cool to walk around and see the contrast of the 1850's to Las Vegas today as right outside the fence is city. Outside there's also a Tortoise named Helen Shelly. If you're a Fallout fan the museum has a little shrine to the game as well as a few gift shop items. We also bought some postcards. There is also a very cute employee in Ranger Whiskers. The cat was friendly and we were able to pet it, but I'd ask permission from the Park Ranger first as the cat is feral.
Super interesting historical site. The staff were very friendly. I loved the resident kitty "Ranger Whiskers". We spent probably 45 minutes looking at everything. Very worth the $3 admission to the museum.
Very good museum, perfectly laid out, everything well explained. Be sure to watch the short movie about the history of Las Vegas! Has plenty of parking and restrooms. It also has a small souvenir store
Never heard of this place just happened to be driving by the night before and decided to come back the next day and visit. Very interesting place how it came to be and what happened to it though the years. The video also was very interesting. A nice place to visit for about an hour if you’re looking for something to do.
