One reviewer detailed a negative experience involving a paid deposit for an annual campsite. Despite receiving a receipt and confirmation that their motorhome would fit the site, the campground host's husband later insisted on returning the deposit, citing a policy not mentioned in their rules. The reviewer expressed concerns about potential discrimination, as they are a non-traditional couple, and felt the situation was handled poorly. They also stated that other campers had secured sites without a face to face meeting.

While the campground is praised for its beauty, peacefulness, and recreational facilities, this reported issue with campsite reservations and deposit handling raises concerns about the campground's management and potential inconsistencies in their policies. Campers should be aware of this potential issue when making reservations.

We were placed on a waiting list for an annual campsite. We paid a $500 deposit and received a receipt. Because we were not in the area at the time, other campers looked at the available site for us to make sure our motorhome would fit. It did and we were quite satisfied even on a speaker call with the camp host. the next day we receive a call from the camp host's husband saying she misspoke and that she should have never allowed us to pay a deposit and agree to the site without meeting us face to face. This is not in any of their rules. He was insistent on returning the deposit unless we could meet them face to face, knowing we were in New Mexico at the time. Many of the other campers have never met him and we met her face to face last season when we asked for our name to be put on the list. We offered to pay in full and sign a contract that we were fine with the site unseen. He was belligerent and said he just wanted to give the deposit back and he would call us later after discussing with his wife. He never called. We feel there is an underlying reason, perhaps because we are a non-traditional couple. The wife had no issue, took the application and gave a receipt. campers beware.

Said they were open 24 hours, showed pics of winter camping. Got there, closed, gate barred. No place to turn around. Stuck in ice and snow on road. Don’t advertise open if you are not!!

Poor management, unfriendly campers, boat ramp is the absolute worst, says its public with a $5 fee but they turn everyone down and threaten you with firearms. Not a family friendly place. Almost seemed like I was in prison. Steer clear people!
