We spent our July 4th at Ole Mink Farm and had an absolute blast. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome—everyone we interacted with was polite, helpful, and genuinely kind. You can tell this is a family-run place with heart. The facilities were excellent. We enjoyed relaxing by the pool, and the nearby Catoctin Mountain trails offered a perfect opportunity to explore and connect with nature. The entire setting is quiet, peaceful, and ideal for anyone looking to recharge away from the hustle of everyday life. One of the most meaningful moments of the trip was their 4th of July retirement of the flag ceremony. It was done beautifully—respectful, thoughtful, and deeply patriotic. Surrounded by fellow Americans who care about this country, it reminded us how grateful we are for the privilege of living in the greatest country on earth. Highly recommend Ole Mink Farm for a serene escape with heart and hospitality. We’ll definitely be back.
We stayed in the Hidden Springs cabin. It was perfect for our family of 5. The kids loved the playground on site and we loved that Ole Mink was close to all the sites we planned to visit on our trip. We went to Gettysburg, Cunningham Falls, the Catoctin Furnace, and the Catoctin Wildlife Preserve. We also had great meals nearby at Bollinger's, Thurmont Kountry Kitchen, Rocky's Pizza, Simply Asia, and The Ott House in Emmitsburg.
We stayed in the Sunny Maple cabin. It was nice. The bedrooms were a good size, but the common room was small. Our 2 kids are adult sized so there wasn't enough room for us all to relax together there. Having a kitchen was great. It rained everyday we were there so, unfortunately, the pool was out. It's beautiful there. The location is great if you like to hike. We checked out Cunningham Falls state park. Gambrills Catoctin state parks are also right there. They have a little shop with snacks and a few groceries. We very much enjoyed the fresh baked cookies and ice cream. It is close to a lot of places, like Frederick, Gettysburg, and Pennsylvania. The local restaurants are good. Phone service isn't great. I would book there again and get one of the larger cabins. Thank you for a nice relaxing time.
My BF has been booking a few nights here in November/December the last few years as part of my birthday present. Super relaxing time! Our usual cabin (Quiet Oak) was booked up this year and we still thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hemlock Haven cabin. Even got a little snow to make it all the more special. Staff and facilities are great! Thank you!
I have nothing but positive to say about this charming getaway!! It was such a lovely weekend away with our dog. The owners were so friendly and accommodating. So many great hikes close by, a pool, a game room, fire pits, swimming at the pool, a little dog park, the cabin was adorable, etc. I highly recommend!! We will be back for sure.
