came here when everyone else left, completely empty, felt private 👍, DONT USE THE BATHROOM WITHOUT A LOCK ON IT that bathroom has many roaches 🪳 , but the one with a key in it, USE THAT ONE , that bathroom is very clean, please follow the rules to keep the bathroom clean. bc if u dont, it wont be a nice bathroom anymore. we also saw a cute little gray fox! he was very chill and didnt bother us at all! and the water is amazing! in the middle of the day the water may be cold at first but literally after not even a minute, it is the nicest water ever! last time me and my family went here but the private cove, that was so much funner, bc it was a cove and wasnt steep to go down to the water, but last time there was ALOT of bees 🐝. 10/10 would go here again.
I was unhappy to find out after I made my reservation that the lake was low due to work on the dam. And while there the noise ordinance was not followed. Both nights we were there we were unable to get any sleep due to people up partying until 3 or 4 in the morning. The shower near our camp site only had 1 working stall. Other than these few things we has a great time.
Orchard springs has been declining lately. Unfortunately their security quit so if you camp NO ONE RESPECTS QUIET TIME. So they party with their loud music and yell all night long. Yes the workers ( seems like one a few work there) do their best to still run around and gather trash and clean the bathrooms. Their store was open very few items in the store and no their hours posted isn't correct they say open till 6, I went at 430 and they were closed. Hopefully next year will be a better summer for them.
This was BY FAR the best place to swim at Rollins Lake! Super accessible. No quick sand-mud while getting in the lake. Kid friendly swimming and easy paddle boarding. Boat docking was closed this weekend, fyi. Additionally, we stayed at the Peninsula campsite, but swimming in the lake was near impossible there. Orchard Springs accepted our campsite parking pass, so we DID NOT have to pay $18/car to park/swim. BONUS: There's a shaved ice stand, a hit with the kiddos!
Since nid took over they don't put a penny into making things better. They just keep raising the price with out fixing or upgrading this campground. I worked there many years. They didn't pay me enough to even work there any longer. Will never go to this place again I know what goes on there. Very bad people run it . Not good for locals any longer. They can't even replace the tables. Let alone the stuff that really needs attention. Don't camp near dumpster stinks an brings late night animals. Skunks included. The camp ground lady will lie to you just to get you to spend $ at this place. The store is new yes but nothing Good in it. An very expensive. For 98. Cent store items. Save you hard earned cash.
