Then let us introduce you to the Oscoda / Tawas KOA Holiday. Nestled conveniently between the charming towns of Oscoda and Tawas in Oscoda Township, this KOA (Kampgrounds of America) property stands out as a vibrant, family-friendly destination. Unlike the more rustic, primitive sites found deeper in the national forests, the Oscoda / Tawas KOA Holiday offers a more developed camping experience, making it an excellent choice for those who appreciate comfort, convenience, and a welcoming atmosphere amidst Michigan's stunning natural backdrop.

Michigan's "Sunrise Side" is renowned for its beautiful Lake Huron beaches, the legendary Au Sable River, and expansive national forests. The Oscoda / Tawas KOA Holiday leverages this prime location, offering a diverse range of accommodations and on-site activities that cater to a wide spectrum of campers, from RV enthusiasts to tent campers and those seeking the comfort of a cabin. While some primitive campgrounds offer raw wilderness, this KOA strikes a balance, providing a comfortable home base from which to explore the surrounding natural wonders, all while enjoying amenities that enhance your stay. Whether you're planning a weekend getaway with the kids, a fishing trip with friends, or simply a relaxing retreat, this campground aims to provide a memorable and enjoyable experience for all Michiganders.

Location and Accessibility

The Oscoda / Tawas KOA Holiday is conveniently situated at 3591 Forest Road, Oscoda Township, MI 48750, USA. This location places it strategically between two popular Michigan destinations: Oscoda to the north and Tawas City to the south, making it an ideal central hub for exploring Michigan's "Sunrise Side."

Getting to the Oscoda / Tawas KOA Holiday is straightforward, especially compared to the more remote state forest sites. It’s located just a short distance off US-23, a main scenic highway that runs along the Lake Huron shoreline, providing easy access for vehicles of all sizes, including large RVs. To reach the campground, visitors typically turn west on Johnson Road from US-23, then take Johnson Road to Forest Road and turn left, following Forest Road directly into the campground. The clear signage associated with KOA properties helps ensure a smooth arrival.

The accessibility of this KOA is a significant advantage for campers who prefer less rugged travel. Unlike primitive sites that might require navigating unpaved forest roads or even involve paddle-in access, the Oscoda / Tawas KOA Holiday offers direct drive-in access to all its site types. This ease of access, combined with its proximity to both Oscoda and Tawas, means campers can quickly and efficiently reach area attractions, including the beautiful Lake Huron beaches, the Au Sable River for canoeing and fishing, and various points of interest within the Huron-Manistee National Forests. This blend of easy access and proximity to regional highlights makes it a highly convenient choice for Michigan families and travelers.

This camp ground owner was very rude to us. We showed up on time. First made a reservation and called to increase it by a day. When I called I asked if we could have rustic. The person stated we could but no refund would be given for the difference. I stated that’s fine I had asked for that originally so we could be secluded but was told none were available. I agreed to pay for other more expensive site but get the rustic so I could be more private. When I got there I found the electric and the water site was 100 feet apart from one another. We were placed between a large family that had tent and rv camping and our little site was in the middle of it all as rustic. They had many kids and they walked through our site a lot. We asked for a refund, since we had asked for rustic private and no one explained that this is not the campsite for that. They could have been honest with us. They refused our refund with no regard. We left and went to a state park. Now, if you have children perfect campground. But if you do not have children then this is not the campsite for you!

The fact that they escort you to your site is super helpful and really prevents issues with people going the wrong way. The staff is efficient and friendly and I really appreciate the fact that I can text them and they'll bring the firewood. And the free trash pick up service is awesome. We were there for Memorial weekend with an RV with full hook up and it was quiet, enjoyable, and a good time overall. We will come back in the future.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Oscoda KOA was exactly as described. The staff was outstanding — so friendly and helpful! There is a nearby train track, but we didn’t find it too bothersome. A train passed by once during the night, but it was no big deal. Huge SHOUT OUT to the sweet couple who helped me find a tool I needed and even taught me how to pronounce Tahquamenon! The facilities were clean and well-kept, and the general store had the best merchandise — the softest sweatshirts ever! We hope to be back at this location the next time we’re in the area!

Pretty sad when we have camped here twice a year for the last three years, along with other family members, and then we had to cancel for Memorial Day weekend and they said they never got my message and won’t give us our money back. We even asked to pick different dates, and they said no. Out four days of camping on a holiday weekend. Will never camp here again!
