Customer Reviews
Only used the campground as a tent site, so not much is expected for amenities, but was pleasantly surprised with cleanliness of facilities and having both laundry and a clean up area for all my gear was very much appreciated. Wonderful lake front swing and chair to relax and watch the sun rise / set. My only knock against was that the store closes rather early and so you need to get all goods or firewood early on in the day.
My wife stayed at this campground on her way back from Alaska and found it to be one of the best campgrounds that we stayed at. Campground was very well kept bathrooms were extremely clean. Canoes are available for rental and work extremely inexpensive.. very family-oriented. Owners or super friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend this campground.
For anyone seeking a memorable camping experience in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Otter Lake Campground is an exceptional choice!! Best campground in Michigan!! Highlights from our family: The campsites are generously sized, plenty of space & a private camping experience. Tranquil & quiet environment, perfect for relaxation and unwinding away from the hustle and bustle. Top-Notch Amenities! The campground is equipped with clean and well-maintained bathrooms and showers. The camp store is a very convenient resource, offering a wide range of essentials at reasonable prices. Campfire wood (at a great price), last minute cooking essentials, fishing, ice creams, the cutest gift options! Otter Lake features a very picturesque lake, providing a scenic backdrop for all the outdoor activities. They offer boat rentals too which was amazing because the lake is actually HUGE, perfect for fishing or just taking a quiet ride out. The friendly and welcoming ownership (Nick & Ellen were so great!!!) and camp hosts made our stay incredible, we are already planning our return visit.
While the campsites are very tightly set together, the accommodations were exactly what we needed. The owners have created a beautiful bathroom that they keep very clean. The showers are long and spacious with a bench outside to set things out of the way. The laundry services are $4 a wash load and $.25 per 15 minutes in the dryer. The dryer is double the size of the washing machine and easily dried two loads in on dry load. The lake is beautiful, the setting is beautiful. They do have wi-fi in the camping area. It does go in and out esp. in the evening when lots of people are using it. But it held strong down near the camp store for me no matter when I was down there. There is no cell service in the campground. The employees were very kind and friendly and honestly I would 100% tell people to stay here.
STAY AWAY. Very rude and disonest. Full of mosquitos. It's not good for tents. They keep going around looking at all the sites and the people. No privacy at all. These people should learn kindness. Is it so hard to be nice to people?. Despite the fact that they made a mistake with our reservation and denied the fact that they talked to us on the phone (we have records), they kicked two people of our group out claiming that site can host only 6 people. They didn't bother helping find another camp for the night on one of the busiest weekend holiday of the year or make a simple exception. They charged $5 more than the agreed price. The cleaning person literally yelled at me because, after swimming on the lake, I went to the shower, and I was dripping on the floor of the shower room! Very rude. He said to me: you can't drip water in the shower room! ?? Crazy. They reprimanded one of my friend fir driving over 5 mph!!! The speed indicator starts at 10!! What kind of speed limit is that? They're control freak, always driving around looking at sites...very weird. The grounds are not flat and therefore terrible for tents. Overall, STAY AWAY!
