This was a beautiful park. We hiked 4 miles and saw deer and really neat rocks. The trail was well marked and had great views. The ranger station was nice and had cool souvenirs.
Its one of the warmest forested mountain ranges in the United States, and so one of the best for lovers of the outdoors. Pristine lakes, dynamic topography, and old growth forests mean there is always something to explore. Short, mild winters and long hiking, kayaking, motorcycle seasons. Most things are free or very cheap and readily available without reservations or waiting or extensive planning.
Lots to do I'd you love nature ,hiking trails, swimming fishing. I personally didn't have enough time to see and do it all. Be the water was crisp and the scenery was beautiful.
Did some dispersed camping while passing through Arkansas. Pretty views and super peaceful. No cell service while in the mountains.
Almost perfect! Signage could definitely be improved. Some of the trails were not marked. Some were marked but the signs were small. Some of the places were hard to understand if I was allowed to drive my Jeep there instead of just a smaller ATV.
