I would like to say everyone here is wondeful. However, JEFF the manager absolutely RUINED our trip... His demeanor and attitude was truly one of the worst I have ever experienced. He was beyond unorganized. We had called and made arrangements for 18 people at three sites. However, when we go there we noticed the sites were a little to small to accommodate us. So we spoke to the staff the moved us down into sites that worked for us. It was supposed to be for three nights. On the second night big Jeff made us move into spots that wouldn't fit us. Like what the Heck????? He said our spots that we were in were booked even though the staff placed us their. The funny thing was no one showed up there to that spot yet he made 18 people move... We have been coming here for 3 years never had a problem until we met big Jeff. On the second night I apologize to the staff for being a tad loud. Yes, we will take full responsibility for that. But to come over to us AND SCREAM AT US and tell us we needed to go to bed or he was calling the sheriff was insane. There was no prior warning. This man has some SERIOUS anger problems and blames everything on his staff. He takes no responsibility for his actions or the way he acts. Honestly, we have always loved staying at this KOA but we will NEVER RETURN. I will make sure to go out of my way to tell people about our terrible experience there. Jeff work on being more organized, your passive aggressiveness, and your anger. Not cool.
Our deluxe cabin was great - clean, comfortable, and right by the creek. The staff was communicative via text about updates about the campground (shower house, lost & found, etc). The campground is also central between Ridgway & Ouray, which was convenient. We loved our stay!
I must say I couldn’t leave this place fast enough. We arrived and friendly staff at the front desk. Having a camper with no bathroom and a terrible experience with the restrooms/showers here. For one the combo lock on the door is annoying and just dumb. Obviously nobody is sneaking in to use the bathrooms here. Forgetting the code and having to walk back to the camper. The 16 trips or so I made to the restroom/shower EVERY SINGLE time 1 or 2 out of the 3 toilets was occupied with someone taking a dump, no matter what the time was. The ventilation system is absolutely trash and the smell is 10 times worse than going into a porta potty! Bathrooms were rather disgusting with poo splattered toilets and trash on floors. Awkward inward swing doors in the shower with no shelves but has 2 hooks. 2 showers in the women’s and 1 toilet out of service which is unacceptable for the price they charge to stay at this place. Zero sleep past 7am and I’m a heavy sleeper, lots of banging and loud noises. People driving excessively fast down the lane in and out of the park. And ignorant people letting their dogs bark!!!! Nobody says anything to them. Loud road traffic behind the place. I’d give the place a 4 star if they correct the bathroom ordeals and ventilation fan! Hang a sign up in each stall for the boomers that sit there 30 minutes with a log in the bowl, the entire locker room doesn’t want to smell your sh**. Learn what a courtesy flush is!!!!! And sadly I suggest installing speed bumps to slow people down and help quiet the place in the early hours
We stayed here for one night last week and we had a fantastic time. The staff was extremely friendly and gave a whole list of suggestions for us to see/do/eat in Ouray. We had never been here before but we’re passing through on a road trip and now we want to plan an entire trip around visiting Ouray again. The campsite was very well maintained and very clean. we stayed in one of the camping cabins and it was also very clean and cozy. The bathrooms were very clean too. There is a dog walking trail through the campgrounds which was fun to explore. There’s also a bouncy pad, a gold sifting station, and several playgrounds for the kiddos. I would give 10 stars if I could!
Really nice all around! Great view and trees. Layout is a little windy so you might unhook a toad at the front. We were at the back by tent camping. That crew was a little fast and loose with the rules. Dogs were wondering and peeing on other campsites. I suppose staff doesn’t make it back there quite as often but we did see staff a good bit!
