Outdoor Adventures Introduce
For Michiganders, the call of the Mitten State's diverse landscapes is a powerful draw, offering everything from the tranquil shores of the Great Lakes to the deep woods of the Upper Peninsula. When it comes to embracing the camping lifestyle, many of us seek not just a place to stay, but a destination that offers comfort, convenience, and a wealth of activities. Outdoor Adventures, headquartered in Bay City, MI, operates a network of private, member-based camping resorts across Michigan designed to provide just that. This isn't your typical public campground; it's a collection of resort-style properties offering a wide array of amenities and experiences tailored for families and individuals who value a consistent and amenity-rich outdoor experience. If you're a local looking to invest in a lifestyle of regular, high-quality camping trips within our beautiful state, Outdoor Adventures offers a compelling proposition.
Outdoor Adventures has established itself as a significant player in Michigan's camping and outdoor recreation scene. Their model focuses on providing multiple resort locations, each with its unique character and offerings, from bustling, activity-packed hubs to more serene, natural settings. This diversity aims to cater to different preferences within the camping community. While some members have expressed concerns about changes in resort availability and membership value over time, many still laud the overall quality of the resorts, the friendly staff, and the engaging experiences provided. The emphasis on cleanliness, varied activities, and a welcoming environment, as highlighted by positive customer interactions and resort tours, remains a cornerstone of their offering. For Michiganders who commit to the membership, Outdoor Adventures strives to be a consistent and reliable partner in their pursuit of outdoor fun and relaxation across the state.
Outdoor Adventures' main office is located at 800 Washington Ave STE 200, Bay City, MI 48708, USA. This Bay City address serves as the central hub for their operations, including member services and reservations. However, it's crucial for prospective campers to understand that Outdoor Adventures is a network of multiple resorts spread across Michigan, rather than a single campground at this specific address. These resorts are strategically located to offer diverse camping environments and access to various natural attractions throughout the state.
Their portfolio of Michigan resorts includes locations such as:
- Lake Shore Resort (near Davison)
- Saginaw Bay Resort (Standish)
- Rifle River Resort (Sterling)
- Lake of the North Resort (West Branch)
- Mount Pleasant Resort (Mount Pleasant)
- Grand Haven Resort (Grand Haven)
- Wilderness RV Resort (Standish/Omer area)
- Kalamazoo Resort (Kalamazoo)
Each of these resorts is accessible via Michigan's well-developed road network, with specific directions provided for individual resort locations. The resorts are designed to accommodate a wide range of vehicles, from tents and pop-up campers to large RVs, with varying site types and hookup options. The accessibility of each individual resort varies based on its specific location, whether it's near a major highway or nestled in a more secluded natural setting. For example, Grand Haven is just minutes from Lake Michigan, while Rifle River offers a more quiet and secluded setting. This widespread presence ensures that Michiganders can find an Outdoor Adventures resort within a reasonable driving distance from most areas of the state, making weekend getaways and longer vacations highly convenient.

Customer Reviews
Great presentation. Joe was very thorough and explained everything in detail. And Josh was wonderful. We really enjoyed our tour. It's beautiful dog-friendly campground.
Just learned that the Grand Haven resort will no longer be an option for members as of July. Also, Rifle River, Lake George in West Branch and Wilderness no longer appear as resorts in the system & Beaver Creek is not available any more. Many members are very disenchanted with their memberships. We are losing camping options in Michigan as properties are purchased out of state. Most members I talk to bought into this program for summer camping in Michigan. So many of the "amenities" that sold us in 2000 when we purchased our membership, have fallen by the wayside. We upgraded our membership and paid a great deal of money for program upgrades that have become less & less valuable to us. We have been to meetings to voice our concerns, but it falls on deaf ears. Not all members want to camp in busy, overcrowded, city like campgrounds. But if OAI continues to sell off the less populated options (Rifle River, Grand Haven, Wilderness, Lake George, Beaver Creek) what are we left with? We used to love our membership and talked it up to people all the time. Now we are less than happy with a program that we have invested a lot of money into.
Shawnie smith was awesome! She was very informative, personal and friendly during the tour. I never felt pressured to become a member. While this membership doesn’t fit my life, the property was beautiful.
Came with my grandparents and was assisted by Ron and Josh and the tour was amazing. I love how exciting and fun they were the resort is beautiful and huge with many activities for the full family. The Cabins are clean and spacious & fully equipment:I would recommend to anyone.
We bought a membership 10 years ago. It was great. The place was clean. We aren’t campers and the cabins were at a very reasonable rate. Now 10 years later and thousands of dollars later, the rates are very high. We can’t even afford to stay there. Not only that our yearly maintenance fees went up 50 percent in the past 10 years. We used to like going there. But now not so much now.4 So we get a phone call from Outdoor Adventures about updates and if we have any questions. Turns out what it is they want to try and sell you and upgrade your membership. In this economic environment, they are asking people for more money??? Who has that kind of money? I can’t even imagine what a membership is now. I would love for Outdoor Adventures to let people opt out their membership without penalty. And also, after you’ve been a member after a certain time, your maintenance fees should be locked in permanently. Like I said we used to love going there. But now, we rarely even go there. That place used to be better.
