Overlook Point Camping is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Wayne County, Utah, offering a unique camping experience for outdoor enthusiasts. Located in one of the most scenic areas of the United States, this campground provides an ideal base for exploring nearby attractions like Capitol Reef National Park. With its stunning natural landscapes and well-maintained facilities, Overlook Point Camping is perfect for both RVers and tent campers seeking a peaceful retreat in nature.
This campsite is known for its high ground, providing dry and flat spaces that are ideal for larger rigs, such as 37ft fifth wheels. The elevated location also offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, including stunning sunrises and sunsets. While the site is currently free to use, there is a suggestion from previous visitors to consider a small registration fee in exchange for added amenities like toilets.

Great place to boondock while visiting Capitol Reef! We pulled a 37ft fifth wheel. Views are amazing!
Great camp site: high ground dry/flat ground with lots of space and some wind; Able to see sunrise and sunset; it’s also free :-) Only recommendation to BLM: add some simple things, like a toilet if we have to pay a small registration fee.
A great BLM area for dry camping (aka boondocking). There are so many beautiful places in this area that is very close to the Capitol Reef National Park. Camping is free. Great views and perfect for stargazing.
Quite a few campers and RVs when I got there, but it’s free and a beautiful view of capitol reef and the surrounding terrain. The reviews about morning wind were accurate, it’s breezy in the morning, so shelter or tie your tent if that’s what you’re using. Right off the road and only 5-10 minutes from the NP. Would recommend
One of my favorite BLM/dispersed camping locations in Utah! Fantastic views, large sites and plenty of space between them. If it's wet be prepared for mud and ruts.
