Paca Pride Guest Ranch Introduce

Paca Pride Guest Ranch, nestled near Granite Falls, Washington, offers a distinctive and charming experience within the "Campgrounds & RV Parks" category, blending traditional outdoor accommodation with the unique appeal of an active alpaca farm and a commitment to sustainable living. Far from a conventional campground, Paca Pride positions itself as a "base camp for your Mountain Loop experience," providing a rustic yet comfortable retreat for various types of travelers, including families, couples, and even their canine companions.

Environment: Pastoral Charm with Mountain Wilderness Access

The environment of Paca Pride Guest Ranch is characterized by its tranquil pastoral setting, encompassing 17 acres of meadow and forest. It sits along the historic gold rush Robe Valley of the Mountain Loop Highway, offering a serene escape with picturesque mountain views, including glimpses of Mount Pilchuck. The ranch actively practices permaculture, focusing on regenerative agriculture, which means guests are immersed in a working farm environment where sustainability is paramount. You'll find a healthy mix of "nitrogen fixers," "nutrient accumulators," and "carbon sequesters" in the pastures, reflecting their commitment to a balanced meadow ecology.

The area experiences a range of temperatures, from the 30s°F (around 0°C) in winter to the 70s°F (around 20-25°C) in summer, making it a comfortable destination during the warmer months, while offering a cozy, rustic experience in colder seasons with heated accommodations. The location is strategically placed for exploring the surrounding natural beauty, which includes vast forested terrain, alpine lakes, and numerous hiking trails. Guests can enjoy fresh country air and the calming presence of alpacas and other farm animals, creating a unique ambiance that sets it apart from typical "Campgrounds & RV Parks."

Services and Facilities: Thoughtful Amenities for Diverse Stays

Paca Pride Guest Ranch offers a variety of accommodation options and a thoughtful selection of services and facilities to enhance the guest experience:

  • RV Site: There is one designated RV spot available with an electrical hookup (30 amp service). Self-contained tent trailers less than 20 feet are also welcome. This limited RV offering makes it a more intimate setting for RVers.
  • Tent Camping: Campers can pitch their tents on green spaces or opt for covered tent platforms (20'x20' decks with rain/sun shade). These platforms offer a level surface and ample space, making tent camping easier and more comfortable, especially in varying weather conditions.
  • Yurt Camping (Glamping): A significant highlight of Paca Pride is its furnished glamping yurts. These unique, round structures offer electricity and heating, providing a "rustic resort comfort" that appeals to those who might be new to camping or prefer more amenities. Yurts come with queen-sized beds and sometimes additional futon mattresses, suitable for families. Optional linen and pillow outfitting and towel packages are available for an additional fee, catering to out-of-town visitors who might not travel with full camping gear.
  • Guest Room: For those preferring a traditional room, there is a guest room within the main log home with a private bathroom and a queen-size bed, offering a more hotel-like experience.
  • Communal Facilities:
    • Restrooms & Showers: Two public restrooms with hot showers are available, located at the side of the main building.
    • Outdoor Kitchen: A covered outdoor kitchen area with a sink (well water), propane BBQ grill, and a 4-burner gas cooktop stove is provided for guest use.
    • Communal Fire Pit: A large communal fire pit is available for all campsites (when no burn ban is in effect), encouraging social interaction among guests. Solo Stoves are also available for rental.
    • Drinking Water: Pristine, mountain-fresh well water is available, and guests are encouraged to bring containers to take some with them.
    • Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi is available throughout the campground and ranch, allowing guests to stay connected despite the remote location.
  • Pet-Friendly: Well-behaved dogs are allowed, but they must remain on-leash and with their owner at all times when on the property. There's a 4-acre fenced "sniff spot" (a meadow used for alpaca grazing) where dogs can roam off-leash. It is important to note that dogs are not allowed in pasture areas or near where alpacas/llamas are present due to their natural incompatibility. Strict rules regarding dog waste disposal (compost bins provided) are in place.

Features: Alpaca Encounters, Sustainable Living, and Outdoor Adventure

Paca Pride Guest Ranch distinguishes itself with several unique features that offer more than just a place to stay:

  • Alpaca Farm Experience: Guests have the opportunity to interact with the resident alpacas (and other rescue animals like pigs, ponies, goats, and chickens). The ranch prides itself on educating visitors about permaculture, regenerative farming practices, and animal husbandry. Free guided farm tours are often available.
  • Farm Store: The ranch features a store selling alpaca-related items, including their highly recommended alpaca socks, hats, scarves, and blankets, made from the luxurious and hypoallergenic alpaca fiber. Fresh eggs and local honey may also be available.
  • Mountain Loop Highway Access: The ranch serves as an ideal "base camp" for exploring the Mountain Loop Highway, a national scenic byway known for its many hiking trails, alpine lakes, mountain meadows, railroad tunnels, old mining towns (like Monte Cristo), and waterfalls. Popular nearby trails include Big Four Ice Caves and the Mt. Pilchuck Lookout.
  • Events and Retreats: The ranch has a multi-purpose "Roundhouse Yurt" (730 sq ft) perfect for group events, family reunions, business meetings, workshops, and retreats, offering a versatile space for gatherings.
  • "Sniffspot" for Dogs: The dedicated 4-acre fenced meadow for off-leash dog play is a significant feature for pet owners, providing a safe and spacious area for their canine companions.
  • Sustainability Focus: Visitors can learn about sustainable land use, low-impact livestock practices, and even see a "chicken tractor" in action. The farm's practices are transparent, inviting guests to engage and learn about responsible living.

Booked stays are usually billed fully at the time of booking.
  • Pricing: Camping rates can range from approximately $35 to $149 per night, depending on the site type (tent, RV, yurt).

Guests should bring their own bedding/sleeping bags for tent and yurt camping (unless linen package is purchased) and cooking gear. Food should be stored in animal-proof containers or in vehicles.
  • Community Engagement: The ranch often hosts seasonal events, seminars, and workshops. They also serve as the headquarters for the Mountain Loop Tourism Bureau, actively promoting the area for hikers, campers, and outdoor enthusiasts.

For those seeking a blend of outdoor recreation, unique animal encounters, and a focus on sustainable living, Paca Pride Guest Ranch offers an enriching and memorable experience within the "Campgrounds & RV Parks" category, providing more than just a place to park your RV or pitch a tent.

This place is magical! Between the beautiful grounds, cute animals and incredibly friendly hosts you can't ask for a much better hospitality experience. My wife and I learned so much from Dave about his farm and we really felt like we got an authentic look into what he's built out there. Dave is super friendly and we really enjoyed talking with him and learning more of his story as well. Don't skip Paca Pride if you're looking for a wonderful camping spot on the Mountain Loop Highway!

I stumbled across this place on a Facebook post. I gave him a call and booked it for my wife's 62 birthday. The hosts were outstanding and the permaculture and alpaca tour was not only excellent but incredibly informative. Our yurt, number two, was clean and very nice. On the second night when it rained we slept like babies. Their price point is excellent and their service is spot on. I highly recommend this place. The morning coffee with Italian cream was very tasty. We will be back this summer.
